Flist sometimes John Barrowman can be a muse for original fiction

This week I finished assignment four for the Short Writing course I'm doing at Tafe, which is sort of like college here in Australia. There were two parts of the assignment, a music and creativity exercise and a synaesthesia exercise. For the synaesthesia exercise we had to answer some questions and choose one that got the most keywords. I chose "The sound of a trombone is what colour?" list and had to write the beginning of a short story incorporating the keywords. I'm not sure how I got the idea but strangely convinced John's involvement in La Cage Aux Folles might of sparked the brain since it's been mentioned a lot lately. Trust me I have no idea how my subconscious works. Also it is a original character in a original piece of work.

Here is the end result:

The necklace was gold with a dark red ruby stone. A brown handbag hung from the door handle behind him, borrowed from his best friend’s collection. He twirled around in front of the mirror, dressed in a red glittery dress and blonde wig, wondering what his boyfriend would make of it. His makeup consisted of blue eye shadow and bright red lipstick; over the top but this was how it went. He spied the orange and yellow flowers in the vase and smiled. He felt great and couldn’t wait to get out there. It was all about causing confusion. Tonight James was ready to perform as Carita, the club’s newest drag queen.

Also I should say that my lecturer hasn't seen this yet since it's not due in class until Tuesday.
