1. The Gun Seller- Hugh Laurie. This is such a funny book. It’s ironic, sad and it makes you think. Thomas Lang is a miserable and sarcastic character but at the same time can be a proper gentleman around the women. It’s wonderfully written by the man who plays the sarcastic Dr Gregory House on House MD.
2. The Da Vinci Code- Dan Brown. I enjoyed this book as I like conspiracy theories and history. I will confess that I did believe in the theory but now I see it as a very entertaining fictional novel. The movie was great but I prefer the novel.
3. Twilight- Stephanie Meyer. I actually enjoyed it but not enough to go on and read the other novels in the series. The romance is what draws you in.
4. Beneath the Bleeding- Val McDermid. This is a great crime novel with the psychologist Tony Hill and DCI Carol Jordan. The murder method was interesting and the motive the killer had was very different than what I have ever read before.
5. The Picture of Dorian Gray- Oscar Wilde. This is such an interesting story about a man who goes to drastic measures to keep youthful. Such a classic story.
6. Murder Most Fab- Julian Clary. This is such a great story with camp humour and honest truths. It tells the story of a male prostitute who had his heart broken at seventeen and is rise to fame despite committing a murder.
7. Past Mortem- Ben Elton. This story is about school reunions and how people can change from how they were in high school while also being a crime novel. It’s a funny book and also deals with bullying and how it can come back to haunt you.
8.George’s Marvellous Medicine- Roald Dahl. This is a children’s book but I loved to read it a lot when I was a child. It’s a very funny story about a boy who decides to improve his grandma’s medicine after being left alone with her. The end results are very funny and entertaining.
9. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy- Douglas Adams. This is such a great story about Arthur Dent who is saved by his friend Ford Prefect after the Earth is destroyed by the Vogons. In the past I have crossed this over with Doctor Who.
10. Shadow of the Wind- Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I recently read this novel and enjoyed it very much.
11. Blind Faith- Ben Elton. This is a futuristic 1984 and is very good story. It is set in 2080 where the Christians have taken over the world; everybody has to have a blog and has to be watched everyday. So sex, eating and other things always have an audience.
12. Dead Famous- Ben Elton. This is a great crime novel about reality television. A murder has been committed on the set of a Big Brother style reality series. A very funny satirical novel.
13. On the Edge- Richard Hammond. This is an autobiography telling the story about the 300 mph crash Top Gear Presenter Richard Hammond endured in 2006. His wife also tells her side of the story while they were in the hospital. Her bits are very well written and are very emotional.
14. Hound of the Baskervilles- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This is the first Sherlock Holmes novel I ever read.
15. The Day My Bum went Psycho- Andy Griffiths. Andy Griffins in Australia is very entertaining children’s author. It tells the story of Zac Freeman whose bum attaches itself from his body, in this world this is quite normal. A very entertaining story.
