Although I haven't seen yet a few contenders the year had to offer, I found 5 that seem pretty unstoppable.

05:
The Bourne Ultimatum
Directed By: Paul Greengrass
Starring: Matt Damon
Action movies are usually too dumb to be exciting, but (despite the over-the-top technology) the final Bourne movie creates a shaky-cam believability like none other. I wasn't impressed by the first two Bourne's, but this one really pulled my trigger. Get it?

No Country for Old Men
Directed
By: The Coen Brothers
Starring: Josh Brolin & Tommy Lee Jones
The best Coen movie? No way. Overrated by the critics? Probably. One of the most unexpected mind-benders in years? Definitely. It's a solid film that leaves a bit up to audience interpretation, and a bit out of their expectation. Jump on the bandwagon - you'll see. It's cooool.

03:
Into The Wild
Directed
By: Sean Penn
Starring: Emile Hirsch
Although I disagree with McCandless's philosophy and think Penn made a huge mistake using so many narrators, at least he made up for it with the overall style. I've never seen anything like it. Amazing editing. The best part is when he looks into the camera. Wow.

02:
Superbad
Directed
By: Greg Mottola
Starring: Jonah Hill & Michael Cera
The best installment yet from the "guys who brought you 40 Year Old Virgin" (whatever that means). Although the storyline is essentially the same as American Pie - the penis drawings and McLovin are miles beyond the MILF jokes of the late 90s. Superbad is Supergood.

There Will Be Blood
Directed
By: Paul Thomas Anderson
Starring: Daniel Day Lewis
Definitely one of THE great American films of all time. DDL is, of course, unstoppable as Plainview, and just bearing witness to the sheer genius of the direction within every single minute aspect of the production is pretty mesmerizing. The best movie of '07 no doubt.
