I still don't have the first round ready to go yet, but I thought I'd whet your appetites by posting some interesting (well, semi-interesting) facts and figures on the 128 characters taking part in our tournament.

  • 97 different shows are represented
  • 24 shows have more than one character represented
  • 10 characters have had significant presence on more than one show
  • 4 characters were nominated multiple times (Dr. Gregory House, John Locke, Keith Mars, Dwight Schrute)
  • David Boreanaz (Angel, Seeley Booth) and William Shatner (Denny Crane, Captain Kirk) both have portrayed two nominated characters each
  • 103 characters are male, 25 are female
  • 9 characters are animated (including The Tick, who appeared in an animated series and a non-animated series)
  • 9 characters are non-human (including aliens, vampires, demons, frog puppets, mice, mutant turtles, and an Animaniac)
