The West Wing Season Two

If there was an election for the President of the United States of America, & the two major candidates were Aaron Sorkin, creator & sometime writer of The West Wing, or Martin Sheen, the actor who plays the American President on The West Wing, who would you vote for? Sorkin, the man who created the character of Jed Bartlett, American President, or Sheen, the man who breathes life & a whimsical nature into Bartlett? Ah, whatever, just let Bartlett be Bartlett.

& there is the theme for the second season of The West Wing. No more gutless stances for Bartlett. He's a lovable hardass & people are going to have to deal with that. However, there's still the fallout from the cliffhanger ending of the first season to deal with. Y'know, that whole shooting incident? Well, good news is that other than a case of post-traumatic stress in Josh Lyman (Bradley Whitmore) that will manifest itself just in time for Christmas, everyone's alright. The Prez gets shot, but it's an exit wound in his side & he'll be fine.

A few new characters are introduced, some recurring, some just minor guest spots. My personal favourite was John Laroquette's guest spot as the White House counsel. He was only on for one week, & then was replaced later on by my second favourite (& recurring) guest actor in one Oliver Platt ("I've never found anything charming in my life").

I'm wondering how long it will be before the writers finally put Josh & Donna together, please don't anyone tell me either way, thank you. I was surprised at the quick death of Mrs. Landingham, but at least they gave her a final moment of inspiration for the President.

My favourite character on the show changes with the delivery of an awesome line. I can barely get over how awesome an ensemble cast The West Wing has. The chemistry, the deliveries, the whimsical nature of the stories, the rhythm, the odd facts the President pulls out of nowhere, the one shots (I love those) & so on. Now there's another cliffhanger ending that really isn't, but I still can't wait to borrow Season Three from Andy. I just wish The West Wing was all caught up on DVD box sets like Alias so I could start watching the show regularly on TV.
