Top Five Animated Movies

Aug 11, 2004 14:39

I'm probably gonna leave something out that will leave me smacking my forehead in shame or anger. That's why I've enlisted the help of the best freakin' info source around, IMDB.com of course.

& yes, I'll include any computer-animated movies from Pixar or whatever as well in the criteria. For simplicities sake, anything that blends live-action with animation I've eliminated. It's a different category altogether.

Honourable Mentions: Aladdin, The Emperor's New Groove, Fritz the Cat, Titan A.E., Anastasia, A Bug's Life, Chicken Run, Ice Age, Toy Story, Finding Nemo & Shrek (I haven't seen Shrek 2 yet. It's out November 5th, so I can wait).

5. The Fox & the Hound - One of the few older Disney movies that I can tolerate. Beautiful story of best friends.. forever.

4. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut - Probably my favourite musical of all time, the movie translates the inspired brilliance over to the big screen flawlessly.

3. Iron Giant - Criminally overlooked, no other way to put it. No talking animals, just a beautiful story about the love of a young boy for a robot.

2. Spirited Away - Simply put, a masterpiece of old-style cel animation. Just a young girl growing up in a resort for spirits. Gorgeous animation, touching story, whimsical adventures.

1. Lilo & Stitch - Oddly enough, number one is a Disney movie. Not a typical Disney movie though. The story is decidedly darker than most, & contains many moments of irreverance. Plus, Stitch is the cutest freakin' alien I've ever seen.
