I never understood the point of taking over the world & destroying it. What do you have to show for that? There's no notoriety after it's all over. There will be no legend if the world has ended.
I've never really gotten into the Bond movies, but hearing how eloquently everyone's speaking of them makes me think I might've missed out on some gold.

Isn't destoying the world more of a metaphor? You know, destroy the world... as we know it? Not literally, but destroy the world, then pick up the pieces and put them back together in your image.

I think in Bond movies it's not much of metaphor. They actually have devices & satelittes orbitting the planet with giant lasers ready to carve into the crust & core of the Earth. They truly do want to destroy the world. It's like that old line from some movie I can't remember, about why some guy's always so angry. "He's angry at being born." But anyways.
