I haven't seen this film since 1997 or 1998, but I remember liking it but I remember my dad completely hating it.

I wish I could remember what episode of The Simpsons this was, it's where Homer rips up The Cable Guy script and says something to the effect of it ruining of Jim Carrey's career.

I think it was when the family was visiting a Planet Hype! restaurant, with all the Hollywood props in it. I can't remember exactly which episode that is, but maybe we can work together on it from here.

I cheated, I looked up on Google and found the episode title is "Guess Who's Coming To Criticize Dinner?". Here's the actual quote:

Lisa: And there's the cane from Citizen Kane! (pause) Wait. There was no cane in Citizen Kane!
Bart: And there's that awful script from The Cable Guy.
Homer: Let me see. (he reads the script and yells at it) Stupid script! Nearly wrecked Jim Carrey's career! (he angrily rips the script) What?
