Top 5 Ohio Sports Teams

I figure I should put in the little amount of appreciation for sports that I have. Pro and college teams only are eligible.

Honorable mentions: Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds

5 - Cleveland Browns. Cleveland will not give up on this team. Every year is "their year," and it's good to see such loyal fans (even though we trash them all season long) stay by them through thin and thinner. Like most Ohio teams, they're not exactly headline news material, it's more about the mentality of being a fan of the team, like the Reds and Indians. We know they're not very good, and that's probably what makes it so sweet whenever they do win, and whenever they lose it's just another game.

4 - Cincinnati Bengals. Well, as a Browns fan I can't say I like these guys, and it really hurts to say so, but I think overall they are the better of the two. The recent Browns vs. Bengals win/loss record may say otherwise, I'm not sure I haven't looked it up recently, but they seem to fare better than the Browns during the season.

3 - Cincinnati Bearcats. Not exactly the strongest NCAA Basketball team out there, but they make the championship tournament on a regular basis, and that says more than what the Ohio professional teams can do in terms of playoff berths.

2 - Cleveland Cavaliers. I never thought I'd put these guys at number two, but their improvement from bottom of the barrel joke to playoff potential team caught even real Cavalier fans off guard. Of course, since it's a professional team from Ohio they probably never will make it to the playoffs, but they came close this time until the end of the season, and they at least didn't finish last like they've been predicted to do for ages.

1 - Ohio State Buckeyes. Perhaps we have been spoiled by their few tremendous seasons some years ago, but they still do really well in the NCAA Football, although these guys are pretty much our only hope now, we want them to always be within the Top 10 in the BCS. But even objectively looking, it's a rather solid team, has it's flops once in a while like any team will, and sure as hell gives Ohio State students something to do on the weekends. My sister lives at OSU, and you can't go one block without seeing a Buckeyes logo somewhere. It's insane.
