Movie Review: Ocean's Twelve

Where do I start on this one?

Well, if you liked the first movie, chances are, you will enjoy this one as well. Just not as much. Me personally, I didn't like either movie. I think that if a movie has to jump around to different times and different places, put silly transitions scenes in, have text effects, etc. just to keep the attention of the viewer, the movie likely isn't much good. This is the case with Ocean's Twelve.

At no point in the movie does the viewer really know what is going on. Oh sure, you may think you know, but really, you don't. The story jumps around so much that it never really allows enough time to really get into the movie. It is called Ocean's TWELVE, but I think the only reason they brought back the entire cast of the original was so that they could use the clever sequel title. The only characters who really get significant screen time are Danny Ocean and Rusty.

Then there's the problem of the story. Just a warning, reading further will spoil the movie. The competition between Ocean and the Night Fox was just stupid. Having the Ocean group call on help and just have the egg handed to them was a retarded way for them to "win" the competition. They didn't even accomplish what they set out to do, in fact, they failed completely.

Then there was the cameo appearance by Julia Roberts. Tess Ocean, played by Julia Roberts, pretends to be Julia Roberts as part of the plan to win the competition. This idea was somewhat interesting, but very poorly done. It came off as being cheesy rather than surprising. This is also the place where Bruce Willis had his cameo, intertwined with that of Julia Roberts. The whole thing came off as being a bit over the top and not at all believable. Good idea though, definitely different.

Over all, this movie wasn't worth it at all. Some people may find something enjoyable about this movie, but I would not recommend taking that chance when there are so many worthwhile movies out there.

This one would certainly not get more than 1 out of 5 from me.
