Top 5 Joaquin Phoenix films

It's time for the Saint to get back to doing Top Fives for actors so twistedyouth can harp on me for making lists before I've seen an actor's entire catalogue. There's a rhythm to this community that shouldn't be upset for too long. So, I chose Joaquin Phoenix, for no real reason whatsoever. I've seen 8 movies he's been in (including Parenthood, when he went by Leaf Phoenix, I guess since Joaquin was too normal). Joaquin movies I haven't seen include Ladder 49, Brother Bear, Buffalo Soldiers, Quills, The Yards, 8MM, Return to Paradise, and Inventing the Abbotts. I hope his Johnny Cash movie (Walk the Line) is good. It could be this year's Ray.

5. Hotel Rwanda (a small role, but a good one. Delivers the most insightful line in the film, "I think if people see this footage, they'll say 'Oh, my God, that's horrible'. And then they'll go on eating their dinners")
4. To Die For (I never thought this movie was as good as it was given credit for being)
3. The Village (I didn't think this movie was as bad as most people did, but it certainly wasn't great. Phoenix is one of the bright spots, though)
2. Signs (I love this movie. Phoenix had a smaller part, but was still integral. His best scene was when he was sitting in the closet alone, watching the news, when the footage from South America comes on. The way he jumps out of his seat and into the coats was brilliant)
1. Gladiator (he was perfectly creepy and villainous. Lusting after his sister... eeewww. Am I not merciful?)
