5. The Badge (2002) - Sheriff Darl Hardwick
- I just saw this the other day, which inspired me to do this list. It's not great, but the performance Billy Bob gives is what holds the film up and makes it watchable.
4. A Simple Plan (1998) - Jacob Mitchell
- Just a great drama/thriller that may or may not be paying a slight homage to Of Mice And Men. Jacob's penultimate scene is a genuine tearjerker.
3. Sling Blade (1996) - Karl Childers
- Powerful, slightly disturbing, slightly somber film. Definately the film that 'broke' Billy Bob's career, and showed off his masterful acting abilities, as well as his directoral AND screenwriting abilities.
2. The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) - Ed Crane
- I have to say right now, I am not a Coen brothers fan at all, but I enjoyed this film. Maybe because it's a tribute to Noir first and a Coen brother film second. It also has a lot to do with Billy Bob, who rocks the Bauhaus on screen as the leading man here.
1. Bad Santa (2003)/Badder Santa (2004) - Willie Soak
- Foul mouthed, hard drinking son of a bitch who plays Santa Claus. My goodness... no matter what the character does, no matter how anti-social or outrageous he tries to be, he remains charming throughout. It's the dark Christmas movie made for misanthropes who are sick to death of syrupy, lovely-dovey holiday tales.
