friday night lights feels like varsity blues with a shift in tone. it tells the same story without the porkys-like hijinks. peter berg has turned into a fine director, and gets strong performances from the entire cast. the highlight of this disc is the where-are-they-now documentary, make sure to check it out after the feature.

I pretty much agree with all sentiments.

theskooch is going to want ratings (out of 5, 4, 10, 100, whatever you want)

Sideways andythesaint February 13 2005, 01:19:32 UTC
What really bothers me about the Sideways push is the TV ad that quotes some reviewer saying that it's the most fun you'll have at the movies. What kind of horrible life does that reviewer have that a movie about a guy drinking himself numb to avoid the horrible life he's fashioned for himself is the most fun he's had at the movies. Admittedly, the movie picks up near the end with the retrieval of the wallet and the crashing of the car, but the wedding scene is one of the most depressing, heart-wrenching movie moments of 2004. You wrote it best "sideways is a comedy thats [SIC] not really funny".
