- Hero of his own life, in his mind.
- Has trained his Pokémon to fairly high levels, but is still rubbish as a trainer. Usually loses against trainers his age; never had a chance against any of the others who made it to the Island. Worked at Cherrygrove Pokémart to support himself before the war.
- Still fervently believes that his Rattata are the best. Oddly, they tend to have perfect or near-perfect IVs -- he just trains them badly.
- Has a head for numbers but little else. Converts names and addresses into a numeric code to allow a frighteningly accurate collection of contact information.
- Blessed with keen senses: said to be able to read an address book from across the room and to recognize Pokégear numbers by the sound of the buttons. Often too slow to put these traits to better use.
- Contributes little in pitched battles and has been known to cause headaches for allies, particularly officers, due to a tendency towards highly stupid actions, such as getting lost and disappearing for hours.
- On rare occasion, proves himself by causing headaches for the enemy due to a tendency towards unpredictability, such as showing up again after two hours having stumbled across an enemy ambush or after seven, a mile behind enemy lines in their supply tents.
- This gives rise to the idea that he might be doing this on purpose, but all who know him are quick to avow that it is almost entirely accidental.
- It is noted, however, that he is naturally skilled at avoiding notice, both in direct battle and in sneaking through the forest -- the former by not being enough of a threat for most people to care. A pity that he occasionally ruins the element of surprise due to extreme enthusiasm.
- Despite a certain unpopularity, a lack of general intelligence, and a disorganized grasp of basic tactics, he manages to survive anything survivable and to not be in the same area as anything not. This may be his real talent.

- 18 years old, unkempt black hair.
- Rather unremarkable, though in decent shape keeping up with his Rattatas and Raticates.
- Has a pleasantly optimistic demeanour for those who don't really know him. Once they get to know him, the "pleasant" modifier often drops.
