So on Tuesday, we picked up my new car!! We gave the Maxima a fitting send off (though we never did have sex in it unfortunately), and drove off in my shiny new, slightly used, 2008 Hyundai Elantra! Here's what I like, and don't like about it so far:
Like:
- Free XM satellite radio. I really don't know if it's supposed to be on still (car was a former rental car), but I will enjoy it as long as I have it. Plus I can save up to 18 channels on it.
- It's incredibly clever. It has a sunglass holder on top, more places to keep your drink then you could shake your fist at, a little clip on the passenger side to hold either a little trash bag, or a purse, ect. The people who designed this put a lot of care in the little extras
- The roomy and quiet cabin. When you are in the car, you feel like you are an extra two two feet tall. Plus it's got a nice blue lit interior on the instruments.
- It has an auxiliary port, which was vital for me, since I wanted to use my Zune in the car.
Dislikes:
- I miss having my leather interior, as well as my climate control. Hell, I miss the whole "luxury feel" in general. The seats are comfy, they are overstuffed, and are fine, but I've always preferred the feel of a leather interior, over cloth interior.
- The brakes are a bit touchy. Not as touchy as the ones on the Nissan Versa, but I still need to get used to them.
- I have car payments now :(
Either way, I am very happy with my decision. Another nice thing is that I get free oil changes for life at the dealership, which is nice, while we still live here, but it's still a year and a half of free oil changes, which is better then nothing. Also, while I don't get the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, as I'm not the original owner, I still have a 5 year, 60,000 mile warrenty, which covers the life of my loan.
In other news, I didn't mention this before, but on Christmas eve, I finally bought a bag of crap!!!!!!!!! For those not in the know, every once in a while, woot.com offer, for $8 shipped, a "bag of crap," which is basically a bunch of junk they have thrown in a box and shipped to you. Most of the time it's junk, but people have gotten big screen tv's, running cars, ect. The main "big ticket" item they have been inserting lately are Roomba's. I got mine, didn't get a Roomba, but I was happy. I got:
- A Go Duster (goduster.com)
- A Panic Button (
http://www.mygiftguide.co.uk/NewJob/Jam_USB_Panic_Button/)
- A Craptastic Stocking
- 2 packages of inkjet photo paper
and an inflatable loony toons blow up beach ball.
Oh woot!
