WOW WHAT A FAB DAY And yes, I'm shouting on purpose!
I wrote a report about Saturday and here it is

Report on Saturday 17 April at the Vancouver Creation Stargate Convention

Today was a busy, busy day! The third day of the annual gathering of Stargate fans in Vancouver was a biggie with no less than seven great stars from the franchise appearing on stage and interacting with the fans. The day started with James ‘Bam Bam’ Bamford and crew expanding on the demonstration given last night in the cabaret for a group of fans who learned a lot more about the art of fight choreography. Those participating enjoyed a very energetic start to the day.

Meanwhile, photo ops were underway with the hilarious Dan Shea (aka Sgt Siler of the BIG wrench), stunt coordinator for SG1, Atlantis and Psych, after which he took the stage to regal us further with exploits from the Stargate sets. Ten unlucky fans (unlucky?) had to miss this but they had a private meet and greet with the fabulous Joe Flanigan (Col John Sheppard from Atlantis) so I expect they were quite happy with their choice of occupation for that hour!

Back in the main auditorium, awesome music videos were being shown; some fans really show their appreciation and loyalty to these shows in the amount of time, care and trouble they go to. Ten more lucky fans were spending an hour with the wonderful David Hewlett aka Dr Rodney McKay and the majority of the rest were having the first taste of the day of Michael Shanks, who portrays the wonderful character of Dr Daniel Jackson with such enthusiasm and empathy. We were even reminded of his role when one fan produced a boonie and glasses and, for a few seconds, we were all back with SG1’s archaeologist!

So continued the busy day; a fantastic auction of the franchise clothing and autographs, including other scifi shows like Star Trek and Firefly was next. Michael Shanks took to the stage and regaled us with funny as well as serious stories about his time as Daniel and other, more recent roles. Highly entertaining and engaging, he was relaxed and totally there with us, buoyed on by the fact that his favorite hockey team, the Canucks, had won the first of the playoffs on Thursday night!

Once again, we queued, this time for a first! Photo ops with Michael and Joe! My, that was a long queue! I was then lucky enough to be one of the ten fans at Michael’s meet and greet where he was happy and unperturbed, cheerfully engaging us all with his tales of SG1 memories and his latest and future roles. Back in the main auditorium, Steve Bacic (Camulus) was telling stories from the Gou’ald, fans were wowing other fans with the care and precision taken in recreating the characters in the franchise in the Stargate Costume Competition followed by the versatile Christopher Heyerdahl (Todd the Wraith, Sanctuary) who kept an admittedly small audience (so much going on!) happy with some details of his experiences.

The second highlight of the day came as a double package as David Hewlett took to the stage, closely followed by Joe Flanigan! The chemistry and interaction between these two was incredible as they kept us in stitches for 90 minutes, playing off each other but still managing to answer fans questions with immense enthusiasm - it was a privilege to be there and great to see the guys reliving some of the on-screen interaction these two wonderful actors have.

As you can imagine, the autograph lines for these 3 fantastic guys, Michael, Joe and David were loooong! And they all took time to greet us individually. It was a brilliant day, far beyond my expectations as a UK fan. I’m hooked!
