In the dark!?
Oh well now, that was fun!
About an hour and ten minutes ago I lost all my electricity. I was walking into the kitchen to refill my tea when BAM! Total darkness. I keep a flashlight in a kitchen drawer, and after I fished that out, I went out on my balcony. I live on the 10th floor of a high rise, and I'm surrounded by more high rises and apartments. Everything was dark...nothing, no lights, no street lights...nothing. The headlights of cars cut through all the darkness so vividly!
As if her spidey sense was going off, my cell phone rang and it was my mom!!! She never calls on Wednesdays, but for some reason felt compelled to call tonight. I filled her in, and then called my best friend, looking for a possible lodging solution. See, I had just worked out, and while I have no problems with a candle-light shower, I do have problems, BIG problems, if I can't dry my hair!!! And my hair was a mess.
OK, so, I decided to wait a bit...lit every candle I had, got out my little outdoor lantern, took that candlelight shower, got ready for tomorrow, packed lunch, packed tennis bag...and right around the time I was shoving my shoes in my bag the microwave beepd, and everything came back on! Eureka! I called my mom back to tell her she didn't have to call me to wake me up, and as I was looking out my sliding glass door I saw four different buildings all light up at the same time. It was pretty neat, but it was also very telling...how light the dark is around here because of all the lights.
So, one more little adventure in an already bizarro day. I swear, if I wasn't living it, I wouldn't believe it myself!!!
