No really, blame it on the alcohol

It had been a house party she'd been randomly invited to, Tina remembered. There had been a really cute guy in the kitchen, and he'd told her he was an underwear model, and she'd been a little bit drunk already so she traded him her shirt for a bottle of vodka. Tina was a fan of layers, thankfully, and still had an undershirt on, but still.
And then ( Read more... )

Artie had been bemused when he'd received the somewhat drunken texts from Tina. How she'd gotten to a party where someone claimed they were an underwear model in the first place, he'd probably never know.

Still, he'd gotten the details from her, and went along, hoping that she was alright, and hadn't done anything stupid. It didn't take him long to find the house - the music kind of gave it away. He slowed down as he came close, looking carefully at the house for any signs of, well, anything unusual.

Tina noticed him, and started waving from her window, still sober enough to realize that A) screaming was horrible for her voice and B) he wouldn't be able to hear her anyway. She thanked whoever had arranged for the music to be so loud in her mind, otherwise he would probably never find her and then who would she have to drink with? It would have been a tragedy.

Artie was still looking up at the house when he spotted the figure waving at him. Thankfully she was still clothed. Good, she had been wearing layers. He waved back at her, then sent her a fast text.

Come down and let me in?

He really didn't want to ring the doorbell and hope for an answer.

Tina stopped waving once she got the text and ducked back inside to open the door. She figured an open door was better than a reply, at this point.
"Hi Artie!"

Artie was grateful that the door didn't have a step up to it. "Heya, Tina," he said, approaching his friend, trying to figure out just how drunk she was. "You okay?"

Tina giggled and attempted to pull him inside the house faster, "I'm great, Artie. This party's alot of fun," She stumbled a little, but managed to stay upright, "this house is awesome. They even have an elevator, and a pool and everything."

Artie looked up at her with a bemused expression as she pushed him inside. "How did you hear about it?" he asked, grabbing her as she stumbled slightly. "Who's house is it?"

Tina looked in a couple of hallways before finding the elevator, "Um....I think it's one of the Cheerios. They invited Mike, but he had to go," she pulled a face, but ended up laughing anyway, "His mom wanted him to come home."

"Okay," Artie said, trying to think which of the Cheerios it could be, but then, knowing them, any of them. His time with Brittany had exposed him to some of them, but since they'd finally broken up (after plenty of going back and forth for a while), he'd been distanced from that crowd. "Still?" Artie said, smiling at her. "How's she going to cope when he's at college?"

"She's not," Tina said simply, "She's going to explode." That sent her into another round of giggles and she pushed them both into the elevator, which also seemed to make her ridiculously happy.
Or maybe that was the booze.
Probably the booze.

What kind of house has an elevator? Artie wondered as she pressed the button to go up. She really was drunk. "You going to college together?" How long was it since he really talked to Tina, anyway? He had no clue of her plans.

For a second there she thought Artie meant her and Mrs.Chang, but no he meant her and Mike, "I don't think so. I don't know. We haven't talked about it."

"Really?" Artie said, glancing up at her. That wasn't anything he expected. He thought that given how solid they appeared to be, they would have discussed it to death. "Have you decided where you're going?"

"I want to go to NYU," she said, "Then I can get my frolic on everyday." And major in musical therapy, but really it was all about the frolic.

"I can see you doing well in New York," Artie said thoughtfully, looking around as the elevator opened. "Wow..."

Tina looked around too, and had to agree,"Double wow." She had no idea how someone could stuff so many shiny, expensive things into one house, but apparently you could. After just a little bit of staring, she led him down to the room where she'd stashed her traded booze.
"where do you want to go?"
