In-Game Character Information
Name: Tina Cohen-Chang
Series: Glee
Age: 15

Personality: Tina is, in her own words, painfully shy and obsessed with death, but a really effervescent person. The effervescent part of her is hiding under under the painfully shy bit, but that’s something she’s working on. For all her morbidity and crippling shyness, she’s really a very nice person. A bit reserved around other people, she tends to cling more to books than to humans; with the notable exception of her best friend. However, when Tina opens up, she really opens up. With some time, she developed a bit of self-confidence, her own style, and quite the ability to be quite blunt. If your crush is lady fabulous, she’ll tell you so-that is, if she’s sure you won’t throw artificially-colored ice in her face.

Background: Tina was always able to do weird things. Just little things really, like how nobody could ever find her when she played hide and seek for instance. Her mother had a great-Aunt by marriage who was a witch, so they had always kind of suspected Tina might be one as well.
She was just quiet and reserved, and her elementary school classmates really picked up on that. The kids were cruel, and didn’t take very kindly to weird little girls who had a thing for black and automatically won every game of hide and seek. She became an expert at avoiding anything that would just add fuel to the fire and when it came time to present an oral report in class, she was desperate. That’s when the stutter came out, and it worked like a charm. The teacher couldn’t stop kids from picking on her because she was different, but she could do something about them bullying a child with a handicap.
Her parents on the other hand, freaked out. Something horrible must have happened if their little eight year old girl suddenly came home with a speech impediment! So, they moved as far away from Ohio as they could. They figured England would be far enough, and with a little research and a bit of help from their magical Great-Aunt they found an inconspicuous magic-friendly town.
Things got better from then on. Tina kept the stutter, always afraid that the children at her new school would hate her like the others had, but she’d made a friend anyway. Artie was her neighbor and he was just like her, he could even do magic. Having someone who was just as much of an outcast as she was had helped her come out of her shell a little, or at least learn that she didn’t have to duck into the nearest dark corner anytime someone her age passed by. The only thing that was more of a godsend than the kid in the wheelchair was the letter from Hogwarts when she was eleven, a place where there were a bunch of people just like her sounded like heaven and she couldn’t wait to go.

Blood : Muggle-born

Preferred House: Ravenclaw
Why you think they belong in this house? Tina is extremely introverted, and while she’s working on it, she’s spent a lot of time by herself learning things. She taught herself to read music a long time ago, that being her one passion. Research is another one of her strong suits, as is random pop culture trivia. She’s read a lot in the past, especially classics that describe things as “blades of righteousness”. Tina will quote them, sometimes. Her vocabulary is excellent, actually- probably from all of those books.

School Year: fifth

Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? No, I think she’s good. That would require being way more outgoing than she is. She doesn’t really have the confidence to keep her schoolmates in line and she’s not really a sporty person.

Roleplay Samples

Journal Sample: So, I feel like I have to make it really clear that no-I’m not a vampire. That was kind of a one-off joke, okay? No bloodsucking, and I promise any sparkles I may or may not have are totally confined to my wardrobe, not my skin in sunlight. My dad’s not a super-powerful Asian vampire, either. He’s an accountant. My mom isn’t anything special either. Honestly, she stays at home and collects little crystal magical creatures ever since I got one for her when I was eleven. You should see her chocobo collection; it’s insane!
So yeah, whoever keeps slipping garlic into my book bag can stop now, okay? My Muggle studies book smells like a bad Italian restaurant.

Roleplay Sample: Phoenix- eternal, rises from ashes, can carry heavy loads, tears have healing properties Tina tried her best to pay attention to the professor’s lecture on phoenixes and their powers, but she’d foolishly chosen the seat right next to the window and now she couldn’t help but look outside at the snow falling.
Of course, it didn’t help she’d read the chapter last night (partly to be prepared, and partly so she didn’t have to talk to her dorm mates. The stutter didn’t exactly help her fit in). If anyone asked, her doodle of the bird was actually a referential sketch in case they were required to identify one. Who knew? It was completely possible that people might fall for that…
“Miss Cohen-Chang, would you kindly tell us if there is a phoenix outside?” she jumped about half a mile off her chair when the professor called on her. She supposed her daydreaming must have been truly painfully obvious if she’d been caught that easily.
Knowing it was partly her fault still didn’t take the edge off the humiliation, though.
“N-no, th-th-there isn’t…” Tina slunk down in her seat as the teacher continued his lecture. This was going to be a long class…
