Today we celebrate the birth of our great nation. I look around the world and I am most thankful that this is where I was born and raised.
We have problems. They are VERY BIG problems that will take time, patience and great bravery to overcome. I hope in my lifetime to see full civil rights for all American regardless of race, creed, color, sexual orientation and religion, including the lack thereof. I hope to see national health care for all Americans, helping to ease socioeconomic gaps separating the haves from have nots. I hope to see every able bodied citizen working productively; well-fed, well-educated and pursuing life, liberty and justice as promised by our forefathers.
But most of all, I want peace for this great nation. I want all of our servicemen and women back on our home soil, with their families, enjoying the fruits of the liberty they are charged to defend.
I am proud to be an American; proud to say I voted for Obama. In this age of instant gratification, I promise to be patient, hopeful and supportive as we strive with him to bring this country back to greatness and prosperity.
Blessed be.
