I'm trying to get back to posting my Bristol adventures. So I'm attempting to pick up where I left off.
Saturday, July 20, Day 5
• Went to the Duck for a muffin where I saw the Dracos & reminded Zula of our talk from Sunday night’s dinner. She sent over the lead Draco and when I told him, he looked like Christmas and his birthday came early
• I chatted with a little girl at the maypole
• Lucky me, I got to dance with both Essex & Leicester
• I was part of the table setting ceremony
• I didn’t do anything at Presentation today. We had the Minnesota yeomen with us, so at queen’s feast return me under a 10 men guard. The lead yeoman got in trouble we’re leaving his keys where I could find them and get into the armory
• I went to the joust at the Becka’s suggestion since she said there was a surprise there. The surprise was Lee had returned. Oddly, I had just mentioned him to someone else earlier that day. During the joust, when he went to the queen to get his prize, she moved to kiss his cheek, but he turned & kissed her lips. A little bit afterwards, Becka & I went backstage of the joust where we watched the walkthrough. While we stood there, Savvy saw of my basket & thought I had brought cookies, so she began miming expectantly. Eventually, I caught on, I yelled back “No! No cookies!” Once he was all done, Lee hurried over to hug me.
• Out in the streets, I saw Alyson and Claire from At Your Service and they said they saw Mom and asked where she was, I said she had left. Interestingly, the whole conversation in French.
• The ladies from Aly’s acting group in Chicago came to get presented to the queen because one of them was getting married
• Hawkins brought the queen a potato. We were all curious as to what a potato was, so I was the brave one and I ate it raw. No one expected that and no one took it well. I don't intend to ever eat a raw potato again, but I do understand where the French name for it came from.
• Gresham rejected his daughter’s betrothal to little Beale, who ran for her hand. Gresham put gold on the ground and gave Beale the chance to take it and walk away
• Essex wanted to be on the privie council and when he did not get it, he threw a temper tantrum
Sunday, July 21 Day 6
• I danced with Gabe before the front gates opened
• I turned to one of the other bad guys and said, “ I hear you were looking for a Frenchwoman”. The meaning of what I was saying slowly dawned on him. He said he’d put me on his list, and that it was a small list. I said that mine was not a short list
• I ate my second breakfast at the Duck. While there, a Draco minion, Castor, passed without acknowledging me. Vinz saw & passed & apologized for him. As a tease, I said that my boots were dusty & could use a cleaning. I expected Castor to be sent over with a rag. To my surprise, the minion returned and kissed them instead
• Essex got training armor. While he donned the armor, I put on his surcoat, bauble, and hat. The men gave him a buffet. The women lined up to kiss him & kept getting back in line.
• We played Saint Peter’s Gate during which thanks to Sara and her harp, I was Marybeth with her arccapegio
• For Presentation, I borrowed the feather cloak from Feather Mama and pretended to be Leicester
• I saw Theresa from Beloit and her friends
• Once again, I danced with Essex
• I accidentally took Katie Pitzl’s basket to the head. We were both shocked & she & Essex stayed with me. I told her to go ahead and tend to the queen while Essex stayed with me & made it look like we were flirting - A LOT
• Just to be silly, I covered myself in pillows
• Elizabeth, Sara, and I went to the leather shop to look around. I really want one of those roll up books
• Shortly after we left the shop, it began to rain. So we ducked into Draco manor to hide it from the rain. Sara and I ended up sitting in the back. Anthony was leaning over his chair, so we had quite the view of his backside. The whole time we were there, we kept the Dracos hopping. We also tried to poke Castor in the butt with a flute because his sleeve was falling off.
• When we finally got back down to the glade, I ended up knitting in one of the tents, and just tried to keep my dress dry
