Apple iOS update woes

Sep 30, 2018 16:37

I don't post often in LJ, but today's situation deserves recording for posterity. Yesterday I tried to buy a couple of apps and got told I needed to update my iOS. So I booted into Windows 10 to use iTunes, one of the only two programs I run on that benighted OS (the other is a scanner driver). I backed up my iPad, then my iPhone, then did the ( Read more... )

Oh, thank goodness Serge was able to get all your data back! That is awesome of him. And both terrifying and infuriating for you having nearly lost all that! *hugs to you both*

And, flooring? How is the house remodel going? We've been prepping ours to sell for a couple months, and listed it, and have accepted a full-priced offer. Now we just need to find a place to move to.... (And, you know, actually deal with all the hassle that will be moving from one end of the west coast all the way up to the other end. With two small children in the car. ^_^;;)

The house is nearly done (so exciting!). The flooring we've been messing with is left over from our living room - they ordered *way* too much and then refused to take any back. The leftovers have already provided for a friend's kitchen, and we thought we'd use the remainder for the tiny study we have now in place of the small spare room. But getting someone to lay such a tiny space seemed a bit unnecessary so we've been doing it ourselves. Our jigsaw ran out of energy before we did ;)
As for the rest of the house (more professionally handled), the carpets are going in on October 23rd, painting some time before, after which I get to play with furniture :) Do you do quilt commissions, by any chance? ;)

Well done on the sale, the house looks amazing in the photos. When will you be moving? Good luck with finding a new place!

Oh, it sounds like it's going well! *knocks on wood*

I've done one quilt commission. And am not adverse to doing others. What are you looking for, in terms of colors/size/any particular pattern...? ;)

If all goes smoothly and there are no unexpected hiccups or snags (*knocks on wood again*), we'll be moving at the end of November/beginning of December. After Thanksgiving, thank goodness! I was not looking forward to a) moving over a major holiday, and b) missing a final major holiday with my mom's side of the family.

Well...

I love the Allietaire by moonlight quilt you gave us. I love it so much, it looks amazing and it's so pretty, and there are so many awesome fabrics in it. I had no idea what a quilt could do for a bed until you gave us that one. And I'm not putting it on another bed, even another bed in my own house ;)

Once all the building work is over, we'll have two more double beds and two single beds permanently in place. I would absolutely love to have quilts for them, and I am not at all picky about colour or pattern. All your quilts are beautiful. But I am aware that making a quilt takes a lot of time, and four quilts is a lot of quilts, so - basically, if you are making a quilt and have no home for it, I would happily pay for it and give it a good home. But please don't feel obliged in any way. The beds will survive. They'll just have to be jealous of my bed ;)
