Getting behind on art! I'm pressing to finish a parasol and a painting a week through June in prep for origins, and neither are yet complete. But! I do have a painting from a couple of weeks ago that I forgot to post here.
Valkyrie, a commission for
d_c_m. This is the third in a series depicting her character BEE, in different guises and stages. And since the commissions have been spread out over years, it's really interesting to me to compare the three and how I have developed since working on them. if you're curious, the first can be found
here and the second
here.
Personally, I think it's obvious that my skill in painting has gotten way, way better; from texture to colors and especially integration backgrounds, there is a vast improvement. Where I am *not* improving terribly much is in my drawing skill. Which is both a surprise to me and not-- I have felt stalled in that department for a long time, but I didn't realize how much until recently. I think my jump in painting skill covered it up for me. In large part, it's because I have seriously slacked off in my life drawing and need to revisit some old practice techniques. So starting today, I'm dedicating myself to do at least a little practice every day. Let's go get some drawing XP.
