School started, blah blah, work, blah, omg ATAR estimates, blah.
Funnily enough, about halfway through my HSC I'm actually starting to enjoy schoolwork again. Maybe it's because we finished the second module in chemistry, and I really did not enjoy calculating pH values. I did well with titration calculations but that was mostly because of the practical aspect of it. We're onto the third module now, which, while boring, is more applicable for me.
I remember not enjoying physics at all last year, but it's probably one of the most enjoyable now. Possibly because I actually understand the content now, thanks to monsieur tutor. English is still enjoyable, thanks to teachers who can make the lesson fun. I don't even mind doing the (comparatively) massive amounts of homework we get now.
I made strawberry jam
financiers, which are similar to friands. I bought this Italian strawberry jam from Wollies the other day and it is utterly amazing: giant bits of strawberry (it has a 70% strawberry content) and not sickeningly sweet, but just enough.
You can see little cracks where the cake has split and the jam has oozed out in some of them.
My favourite part of financiers is probably the texture. It's slightly crunchy on the outside, but moist and soft on the inside. Excellent with jam, except I decided to dump some on the inside because I'm too lazy to put it on top, and because it's easier to eat that way.
Of course, I love all things sweet but this is probably one of my favourite treats of all time. (The others? Orange and almond cake from a particular lebanese pastry shop, creme caramel and strawberries.)
