Hello fellow educators (and anyone else who'd like to put in their comments as well) =)
I'm doing a project for my course on teaching with technology, and I was wondering if you could help me out by answer a few quick questions regarding the use of games in your classroom - it would really help me with my research assignment!
Thanks in advance for your time,
~Amy
Games in the Classroom
1) How do you feel in general about using games in your lessons?
A) Great! They are useful for practicing key skills and the students love them!
B) Good. They make for a change in my teaching style but are not my preferred method.
C) I only use games as a treat when the students have performed well in lessons.
D) I only resort to games when more traditional methods are not working.
E) Never if I can avoid them - games are meant for fun, not for learning.
F) Other - please comment: _______________________________________
2) If you do not use games in your classroom/lessons, why not?
A) Students become rowdy and undisciplined when games are used.
B) The games are not tailored to the specific curriculum.

D) I do not have time to create applicable games for my use.
E) Other - please comment: _______________________________________
3) If you do use games on a relatively regular basis, do you prefer:
A) Kinesthetic-based - the students participate using movement.
B) Paper-based - either pre-existing or ones I can pull together quickly on the specific information I need them to be exploring/practicing.
C) Pre-existing board games - these are treats which practice literacy skills, as well as turn-taking and cooperation towards a common goal.
D) Online interactive games
E) Other - please comment: _______________________________________
4) When do you primarily make use of games during your lessons:
A) Opener/Starter/Introductory activities.

A) Yes, but only online games from certain websites/distributors.
B) Yes, because I've found a sources of applicable games!
C) Not really, but I'm working on re-enforcing key literacy, kinesthetic, and/or cooperative skills so the actual content is less important.
D) Other - please comment: _______________________________________
6) If games were more strictly tailored to fit the curriculum, would you make use of them in your classroom more frequently, the same, or other?
7) If you could make your own applicable, interactive, online games, would you?
A) I do already.
B) If I knew how, I would!
C) No - I'm sure it takes too much time and energy that I don't have.
D) Other - please comment: _______________________________________
8) What online gaming sites do you currently access?
A) None
B) Rewards/Fun: _______________________________________________
C) Lesson/Curriculum-based: ______________________________________

Please indicate with which grade/year level and subject you are currently working ... I'm presuming lessons aimed at different subject areas and age groups are likely to be using different resources.
Thanks again very much for your help - I really appreciate it!
