058. LIES, SHIWON/SHIWON
→ WORD COUNT: 346
shiwon whispers along quietly to the prayer his father says before dinner, unfolding his hands afterwards. he's a little tired, so the rice and meat are eaten slowly, just to fill his stomach and not for any other real reason.
dusk falls, creeps up on him and gets ignored. he lays in his bed and writes quietly on a piece of notebook paper instead, adjusting the scrunched up pillow between the back of his head and the headboard just beforehand.
i haven't gotten much sleep lately. the pen stops writing, and shiwon chews on the corner of his bottom lip. nothing around him is providing distraction enough to make him put the notebook away; he is forced to tackle this insomnia business.
these nightmares are
shi won traces over the letters with his eyes silently. what are they? terrible? unbearable? not surprising? he remembers being chased, something dark and devilish running after him at full speed. he dodges through dirt and mud and grass, through a forest in the middle of the night --
these nightmares are scare me very much,
-- he runs and runs and just as he thinks he is tripping over a loose root, he flies over the edge of a cliff --
and i don't understand them at all.
-- where the sky is suddenly the brightest shade of blue he has ever seen, clouds in fluffy patches that don't catch him as he falls through the nothingness --
maybe ee teuk hyung knows something about this.
-- he can feel the thickness of the air pushing at his body as he falls, it's cold, he shuts his eyes, he can't move or think or cry and the pit of his stomach feels like it's being sucked right from his body. he wakes up.
shiwon closes the notebook and puts it away, puts the pen away with it, too. he scoots down and fixes his pillows and blankets, resting his arms up near his chest. he feels a little better having written it down, instead of just lying to himself that the nightmares even exist.
maybe ee teuk hyung knows something about this.
