letters, mementos, things he'd borrowed. heechul looked over the pile until he felt tears wet his eyes, then he shoved it all into his bag. luckily enough for him, he'd been so busy sniffling and shoving that he didn't notice a letter fall to the floor, and he'd been so busy that he didn't hear kangin's approaching footsteps or the sound of kangin's heart dropping.
---------
"please don't go," the words breathed themselves out of shiwon's mouth, quickly, his breath and his heart cold even though he was hugging the older boy tightly in his arms. "hyung, i don't want you to leave."
you make me fly.
---------
he had no other choice and he would never say no to heechul in a situation like this, it was never in him to break heechul's heart. as much as he hated him and wanted him to die, kangin could never make heechul cry.
---------
eeteuk watched kangin's face silently. something was different, and he could tell in the way the younger boy gripped his hand and kissed the back of it and averted his bloodshot eyes.
something was different.
---------
the phone turned over in his hands slowly. he was waiting for something that would never come, even as he felt heechul's hand hit his bicep.
"hey. you've been sulking over that thing for an hour."
shiwon frowned, but said nothing. he looked at heechul and then back to his phone, while heechul sighed disapprovingly and shifted into the couch to get comfortable.
"girls."
---------
"you're crazy. heechul, you are insane, i'm not doing this. you're not doing this!" kangin yelled, feeling like throwing something against the wall as heechul stared at him apathetically.
"i have to get out of here. and you have to understand that. and you have to keep your fucking mouth shut."
---------
eeteuk never realized how soft the features on donghae's face were. they were gentle, playful, happy with a touch of human. he also never realized that all it would take was an hour or two of being alone together in a dark living room with a film on for him to feel how soft donghae's lips were.
or that this is what made him feel like flying.
---------
"stella...i'm not sure what you're saying," shiwon said softly, looking the girl in the eyes. he hadn't been sure until she took just a second to look back at him, then he was sure. he was also positive that he would've fallen straight to the floor if he hadn't had his crutches under his armpits, holding him up.
---------
heechul had to write kangin a letter, too. he'd managed to write everyone else's, but everytime he came to kangin's slip of paper, his thoughts fumbled and shut down. one more try.
"dear youngwoon, you're an asshole. don't touch my cat, you touch yourself enough already. love, heechul. ps: don't be an idiot."
---------
kangin tried to watch tv alone in his room, tried to collect his thoughts and keep his head on straight. he played with the remote nervously, unable to settle, his skin cold. with a quiet sigh, he got up and shuffled towards ee teuk's room with his hood pulled up over his head, wondering where the hell that chunsa was.
kangin felt his heart drop all over again when he looked in at eeteuk, who was quietly sleeping all bundled up in his own bed.
something was different.
---------
the air was cold. heechul was glad to be out of it and inside the airport, but if he had been truly honest with himself, he would know that he still felt cold. shaky. scared. kangin wouldn't be there for another half hour, and it was a good thing heechul remembered to leave him a voicemail reminding him of his flight- stupid kangin.
heechul watched out the airport windows, over to the runway with all the airplanes lined up and ready to go. some were still getting loaded, others had just gotten in. midnight was upon them.
he had to do this. he had to board the plane, go away, fly away.
---------
kangin walked into the kitchen quietly. he had to leave for the airport soon, very soon. stupid, shitty situation that shouldn't even happen.
eeteuk sat at the table, drinking juice, reading a magazine. he looked okay- occupied.
"chunsa." kangin's voice broke on the word and he never meant it to. he never meant to drive eeteuk away, he never meant to lie to him, he never meant to break his heart.
eeteuk was the only one that made him fly.
---------
his cellphone laid silent on his bed covers, much like it had been for the past few days- save for work calls. he laid on his side, sleeping quietly, his hand hovering around the phone just in case she decided to call.
he must've fallen asleep too deeply to hear the phone ring, and after waking up and panicking at seeing the voicemail light blinking, shiwon listened to the message left in his inbox.
"youngwoon, my flight leaves at 1:45, be here at 12."
