While inside Kaiba was now wallowing in a cold bath, which was giving him some ease from what was burning through his system, and would take a while yet before he felt safe to face anyone without embarrassment, outside his security staff had formed a perimeter.

The previous evening someone had been out to kill him, and in the background, without Kaiba even having to give the order, an investigation of who had been involved, and just how they had been swayed was going on, and progress would be reported to him when he was ready for it.

Isono did not know what was wrong with his young master, but he knew something was up, his order to be left alone was very specific. So this perimeter had been set up to keep him safe while he felt he had to be alone. Croquet was noticed by one of the younger members of the team as soon as he neared, and he waited to see what Croquet would do, As he appeared to be waiting for something, he checked in with Isono.

Isono knew Croquet being here meant he wanted something, and seeing as master Seto was indisposed, he would deal with it. So he approached his opposite number on Pegasus' staff.

"I am afraid master Kaiba is indisposed at present.." He told him flatly.

"It would seem Mr.Kaiba is unusually paranoid today, even with his 'trusted' security staff present."

Croquet commented dryly with a pointed glance towards the beach house. It was uncharacteristic to say the least, not to mention rather ridiculous to lock all the doors when they were already on an island with armed men standing guard.

"Having difficulties Mr. Isono? Perhaps there's something I could help you with."

Croquet was aware that he and his staff, if considered the enemy, would be an overwhelming threat. But since he had been at tea and didn't see any reason for Kaiba to feel particularly threatened by Pegasus he was curious as to what the sudden problem was.

Isono gave Croquet a scathing look.

"No difficulties. Master Kaiba is feeling indelicate, and very much desires privacy, that is all."

Though Seto had not told him what was going on, certain things had been gathered as his master had stormed back to the beach house.

"I rather gather Mr Von Shroider had something to do with it. Considering how they are with each other, some sort of trick that has left him feeling unwell. I am certain it will pass. Is there some sort of message I should pass on to him?"

"My master simply wished me to inquire as to how long Mr. Kaiba will be staying with us. He had hoped to invite him to diner this evening."

Croquet didn't comment on Kaiba being well or not, though he did frown somewhat.

"Should you need access to the beach house, I can provide you a key. The electronic alarm system has not been activated."

Kaiba wanting privacy was one thing, but being unwell and locking out his own security staff, his most reliable form of aid, was a little strange. It brought the question of how well Kaiba trusted his own staff. Croquet almost felt a little sorry for Isono if that were the case.

"You seem like a reliable fellow Mr Isono. If for any reason you find yourself unhappy with your current employment..."

Croquet left the rest unsaid.

Isono could hazard a decent guess at a few things, he knew his master well. And he only had to look at him as they walked back to be able to have a very good idea why he wanted privacy. If it was a stomach upset or similar then he would be inside with his master in any case. It was a delicate matter and Seto had no desire to be embarrassed in front of his staff. He wanted the freedom to do whatever he needed to get some relief.

"I will extend the invitation when my master is feeling a little better. I doubt it will come to that."

Seto just needed time from what he could gather. Though at that offer his eyes turned cold, very cold.

"I am content." He told Croquet, his tone carrying the message that he was not amused by the idea of being offered other employment.

"If you're certain."

Croquet said, not convinced that the other really knew what he was missing but letting it go for now.

"Will you be leaving by air or sea?"

Was the next obvious question so that he could arrange transport. Though before He could get an answer and odd wind had picked up and the sky suddenly begun to darken. The gulls went quiet and had all but vanished. When he turned his head back to look at the castle with a warning chill going up his spine Croquet could clearly see the reason why.
Above the tall spires of the castle towers a dark vortex was forming, swirling black clouds spreading out to encompass the blue of the sky.

Croquet didn't waste a second before taking out his cell and getting in touch with the main dispatch network.

"This is Croquet, all personnel be aware, the black door is open. Repeat, the black door is open. Be vigilant for any and all shadow realm activity. Lethal force is authorized. That is all."

To Isono he said very plainly and without any room for mistake before he was leaving towards the castle;

"If you see a duel monster, shoot it."

Croquet was going to answer that by air was their preferred route, as they needed to get Kaiba to the main airport and heading home swiftly, seeing as he had work matters to attend to the next day, time change or no. But they were rather interrupted by something strange going on at the main castle.

He blinked at Croquet's instruction, but considering the things he had seen in Seto's employ, it wouldn't actually be that strange for a duel monster to manifest. He watched Croquet go, giving orders to his own team when he heard the commotion in the bushes. taking out his own gun, a couple of his team members close to hand with their weapons drawn, they waited.

The huge dragon moved faster than its dragging bulk would suggest, but not fast enough to avoid three men getting shots off at it, and with a groan and a howl it stopped its charge, shrieked, then simply dissolved into shadow. Inside Seto heard the shots and was diving out of the bath. He wasn't yet free of the drugs in his system, but he was certainly not as bad as he was. He was soon in his underwear and a pair of trousers and throwing open the door.

"What is going on?"

"Its seems Mr. Pegasus is causing a stir."

Kaiba huffed.

"I hope he is giving Zeigfried what he deserves." He muttered.

Back at the castle Kemo had gotten wise to the fact that something really wasnt' right around here when an eatgaboon trap card began slithering it's way down the hallway towards him. The rancid swampwater stench and the plant like tentacles were something he definitely wanted to avoid almost as much as it's gaping shark toothed maw. This was definitely something the Master should know about. However when he threw open the doors he was supposed to be guarding (instead of playing tetris on his blackberry) He was faced with a solid wall of swirling black and violet energy. The tar like edge of the shadow realm dimension itself.
Kemo sighed. He was so not going in there! But he was also not sticking around here as the eatgaboon was onto him and coming closer. He hesitated a moment and contemplated shooting it. But it was a plant, mostly. Could you shoot a tree and kill it? His logic was slightly flawed but none the less it made him decide that leaving his post was better than experimenting to find out.

Inside Pegasus room, wasn't Pegasus room anymore. It was a indeterminate black void, where up and down were only vaguely discernable and the violet glow of a horizon was a long way off on the shadowy plain. There was however, a large black stone altar, a solid cold rectangle rising up out of the abyss. Pegasus approached it, dainty steps in his white stockinged feet. The hot black wind like the breath of a beast tugging at the ribbons and layers of lace on his dress as the light colour of it seemed to glow against all this darkness.

"My, my, someone has been a naughty boy...haven't they Ziegfried?"

His voice was soft and rich against the hollow void. The pink and lavendar form held down by the burning shadows was his focus as he wielded his deck. The small stack of cards held out before him in bone white fingers, as deadly as any dagger as he contemplated which monsters, which of his dearest children, he should summon to devour this squirming soul.

Zeigfried had given in to panic now as the room descended into a black void, and the bed beneath him became dark unyielding stone. He struggled and pleaded as Pegasus released him, and yet something pinned him down by his wrists and ankles. He didn't care what, he just wanted this nightmare to end. As Pegasus addressed him he whimpered.

"Max please! I'm sorry, I really am, I should never have tried anything on, it won't happen again, please let me go!" he begged and pleaded.

He was terrified, utterly terrified of his idol right now, he had never dreamed of anything as horrid as this. If he got out of this in one piece he was going to give up on him totally, business only! Even then he may well avoid him!.

"I don't like it when my toys don't get along. We don't like it."

Pegasus face was as blank and merciless as an open grave as he spoke. He held no emotion any longer, as if he truely were the porcelain doll he was dressed as with his honeyed eye becoming entirely black as the soul hungry void around them.

And the cards in Pegasus outstretched hand suddenly filled the air as if they were sparrows taking flight, hovering and spinning all about the altar and its victim.

"Your soul is too weak. We have been watching, waiting, but it is still too weak. You will never be more than a meal for us."

One of the cards suddenly flashed with gold and behind the altar a huge huklking form began to rise out of the shadows. It was red as dried blood and pulsed with thick veins so dark they were almost black. It shone with a vicsous coating and slowly, one after another, eyes began to open. Hundred of staring, madly rolling, hungry eyes. They glowed a phosphorescent green like torchlight flickering against the oppressive night as it leered closer over the tiny figure bound before it.

"There you are dearest, such a lovely pet. You've been waiting so patiently... my pretty thousand eyes restrict."

Pegasus cooed lovingly at the monster, the first real warmth entering his voice and the monster in return turned all it's eyes towards him with a blink and a sort of bob of respect. It flexed it's odd claw like limbs as if in anticipation, poised and waiting like a dog before a treat for it's masters word.

Zeigfried could not believe his eyes. This couldn't be real, this could not be happening. Really, it couldn't, it was impossible, surely! He was wide eyed in disbelieving panic as the cards flew around him, and even seemed to speak. No, dear God no this could not be happening to him!

He had heard rumours of shadow games and thought them boogie man tales you told children, not any more he didn't! He shrieked in terror at the huge monster as it manifested, looming over him as Pegasus pet it.

"No! Please don't let it eat me!" He squealed.

Meanwhile, Kaiba had pulled on some of his own clothes. He still felt overheated, and the drugs were not out of his system, but a fair amount of time in freezing cold water had helped. Now he could function at least, and to hell with sitting here twiddling his thumbs.

Isono was aghast as he started headed to the castle, protesting about Duel Monsters being on the loose. Kaiba ignored him, and with a groan Isono called the security team into action to go with him as he decided to find out what was going on.

Dunames Dark Witch paused at the top of the stairs to look down at Kaiba and his team approaching, but she was joined by a Valiant looking Sword Hunter who bowed and took her arm, the pair strolling off into the woods.

In the castle gardens a small group of hanewata were bouncing and frolicking with a larger Petite dragon, and several marshmallon were lounging on the pool deck being splashed by toon mermaid.

Croquet had made his way past all these mostly harmless duel monsters, knowing he could let the rest of his staff round them up later if they didn't dissappear on their own. his main priority was to get to his Masters side and find out what was going on. He didn't have to guess to know Ziegfried was involved but Pegasus had never opened the shadow realm since he'd lost the eye. In fact loosing control enough to let it happen was one of his biggest fears.

There was no hesitation when Pegasus looked at Ziegfried, looked through him with that shadowy gaze. The dark realm had taken over and used the drugs and the anger and confusion of desire to gain a foothold and take control.

Pegasus would never have stopped if it weren't for Croquet turning up and shooting Relinquished. Alot. The blood and goo spraying across Ziegfried as the dammage was inflicted.

A few bleeding eyes didn't really stop the monster, but it had always been explicitly obedient and would not attack without it's Masters order.

Pegasus whipped around and finally there was a flicker of confusion across his face.

"Croquet?... What are you doing here, where is..."

At the realization that they were standing in the shadow realm Pegasus face turned completely white under his make-up. He glanced back towards the altar once, his mouth slightly open with absolute horror, and then he fainted.

The shadows had no more puppet, no more anger or power to feed on. His magic was brief these days and only just enough to hold the door open between realms. The dark realm began to fade out the moment Pegasus was down.

Kaiba perhaps did not know for sure the way Croquet did what monsters were a real threat, but certainly none of them looks remarkably malevolent, so to a great extent ignored them. Though his staff were gawking, and he couldn't really blame them, most had never seen anything like it. Damn it Pegasus, what the hell was going on?

Zeigfried was screaming shrilly even as Croquet shot the monster, all the more when the mess got on to him. He was almost out of his mind in terror, and when Pegasus came to his senses, and it was finally over, he whimpered, watching the world come back, sat up, then promptly fainted himself, too overwhelmed by it all.

Croquet realized he had quite the mess to clean up. The first thing he did was try to call Kemo to have him take the quivering mess that was Ziegfried back to his own guest room. Unfortunately Croquet was told by one of his other staff members that Kemo had transformed and was chasing a herd of sheep tokens around the inner courtyard.

Croquet could only sigh. Why did he work here again?
He ordered Johnson to come and get Mr. Vonschroider instead and for someone to take a garden hose to Kemo and lock him up until his sheep induced craze was over.

Dealing with Pegasus who was passed out on the floor just infront of the bathroom doors was another more delicate matter. He tapped his cheeks trying to wake him without startling him, not sure exactly what had set him off.

He woke with a bit of a start anyways but his eye was clear and he regarded Croquet with apprehension. Then he looked around more wildly trying to spot Ziegfried who had already been carried off.

"I didn't... Ziggy-bois not?..."

Croquet simply shook his head, though he sort of wished the German hadn't come back in one piece despite what it would do to his Master for knowing.

"He is alive and well Sir. I believe you only gave him a bit of a scare."

The relief on Pegasus face was instant, but replaced by a frown soon enough.

"I don't understand how I, what it, what went wrong?"

He tried to sit up then and was in obvious pain for doing so, Croquet helped him with fingers already loosening the corset laces at the back of the ridiculous dress he was still wearing.

"It's alright Sir. No harm done. Please, just take it easy for now."

He was told in that definitive tone that made him simply nod and become compliant to the older mans care. His frown didn't leave as he tried to figure out just what set it all off.

Croquets hands unhooking the waistband of his petticoats at the back and going lower to unhook his garter reminded Pegasus of a slight problem he must have developed in the other realm. He tried to squirm way from Croquets grasp a little and push his hands away.

"I think, uh, I can do the rest myself."

Croquet raised an eyebrow at him before he moved away.

"If you say so, Sir."

Magic sometime had unexpect results and Croquet was aware of them. It wouldn't be the first time a ritual had caused an awkward reaction. But he now put Kaibas need for privacy and Pegasus current predicament together with that box of chocolates.

There was silent murder in Croquets eyes.

Kaiba looked up as the dark gathering above the castle dissipated. So whatever was happening was over. Had Pegasus gone so far as to devour Zeigfried's soul. The underhand bastard would have deserved it if he did. He wouldn't be surprised if he had tried it on with Pegasus while Croquet was gone, and that was what sparked this off.

He was grateful that he could walk around without embarrassment now. As long as no-one tried to be friendly, the fact that he was so sensitive and easily aroused would not be a problem, and he deemed such a thing unlikely right now. While his staff warily avoided small and harmless Duel Monsters he made it into the castle, in time to see Zeigfried being carried off.

"Is he dead?" He asked the man carrying him bluntly.

"Naw, not the Masters style."

Was the only irreverant response they gave Kaiba as he was passed in the long hallway.

In Pegasus room he was finally free of his dress and corset, down to a camosol top and petticoats, but he refused to take off the petticoats to hide a problem that was already very obvious to Croquet who was trying not to smirk.

"I will run a bath for you Sir."

Croquet decided that ducking into the bathroom to fill the large jacuzzi style tub with cool water would be far more aproppriate than giving into laughter at the slightly worried and confused expression on Pegasus face. He wondered if he should tell him about the chocolates and that Ziegfried entirely deserved to have his soul eaten or worse.

Pegasus had moved to sitting on the edge of his bed and was trying not to squirm as he held his lacy white skirts down over his lap. This was not supposed to happen. What sort of sick monster was he that the thought of taking a soul got him off like this! He was so warm and it was hard to breathe and the room was so bright. He desperately wanted Croquet to hurry, not able to think of anything else at the moment.
