Zeigfried did indeed feign shock, though the horror was utterly genuine, especially as he learned just how close to death Pegasus had been.
"That is unspeakably awful!" He said honestly, hand to his breast. "Hpw on earth did you survive? And who would do such a thing, to target you? And during my own party, this is horrible."
"They were after me." Kaiba pointed out dryly.
"And yet here you stand untouched and he nearly died, for you. I hope you are grateful."
Though he knew now just what he had done to get into Pegasus' bed. Pegasus had obviously been feeling like showing his gratitude and Kaiba couldn't fall on his back fast enough if the limp was anything to go by. he was glaring as he patted Kaiba on the knee, who was rather surprised by the gesture himself.
It seemed he was fated to having to put up with Pegasus being touchy feely with him from now on. The only problem with that was that it brought up the memory of how nice it felt to have Pegasus nuzzling into his neck, hand sliding up his thigh and lips against his neck.
It rather was a good time for a swim as Pegasus got up, suggesting they get in, Zeigfried taking his towel from Croquet with a stiff smile. As they all got to their feet Zeigfried shed his sift pink satin robe to reveal that his swimwear of choice was a hot pink speedo that left nothing to the imagination. He stretched out his lean body, obviously showing off for Pegasus, and walked down the side of the pool, positively peacock like.
The only thing was he had to pass Kaiba, who discreetly put his foot out, And what would you know, Zeigfried tripped and fell shrieking into the deep end. Kaiba couldn't help but smirk at little. Zeigfried surfaced in a maelstrom of indignity, only to catch that smrik just before Kaiba effortlessly dived into the water. Zeigfried stamped his foot against the bottom of the pool as he forced long pink hair out of his face, appalled that his hair was now a complete mess.
Pegasus was pleasantly surprised that Kaiba hadn't jerked away from his touch by now, they had successfully shared a lounge chair. He supposed that Kaiba was acting a little more tolerant after last night, and the fact that Zigfried was here meant he was on his best behaviour to try and show up his rival.
Pegasus hung back a little, allowing Croquet to help him and take his robe as he waded into the shallow end of the pool. He chose to leave his light pink funny bunny t-shirt on over his red swimtrunks. He was always picky about getting wet, he didn't like to get any water on the ruined side of his face and his hair was thick and slow to dry. But this time as he waded in swooshing his fingers back and forth through the crystal waters it was with a sense of relief as the cool temperature was heavenly against his aches and bruises.
He was about waist deep when he looked up to see Ziggy fall in and couldn't help but laugh. It hurt actually and he was doubled over more in pain thanlaughter. But it was absolutely worth it, especially when Ziggy surfaced looking so indignant and had to claw his stringy hair out of his face.
"Ow, ah ha! Kaiba-boi! Don't make me laugh like that again! I'll crack another rib!"
Pegasus was giggling madly still. God he had needed something to really laugh about.
Kaiba surfaced far more elegantly, to the sound of Pegasus laughing, at home in the water. Had he not been thrown into the rocks last night and winded, he would never have been in trouble in the water. Zeigfried glared horrific and painful death at Kaiba's smug look, the latter shrugging.
"Sorry, very clumsy of me."
Hackles raised and looking much like a wet cat, Zeigfried managed to get his hair out of his face with a planned duck under water and was making his way into the shallows and towards Pegasus.
"I suppose I can bear the humiliation for your enjoyment, especially after all you went through last night," He all but cooed at Pegasus. "Are you sure you are feeling well enough for this. I feel like I should be looking after you."
Kaiba rolled his eyes. Yes, soaking the idiot had been the right thing to do, look at him. Ugh, he was grateful he was not like that.
"Oh no, you don't need to trouble yourself Ziggy-boi. I'm quite used to being on my own. And this water is making me feel much better, it's so lovely and cool. I couldn't imagine a more perfect day to be enjoying the pool."
Pegasus replied all politeness and gentility. He refrained from asking Kaiba to apologize or any such thing because then he'd have to apologize for laughing and he'd never do that.
"Do go and enjoy yourself a bit, Kaibas surely not the only one who can make a dive look pretty?"
He waded out a few steps more and ducked down to wet the rest of his t-shirt, the pale pink fabric clinging to his chest. He didn't want to think about the bruises that were beneath it, for now he was just happy to have some time to relax. He was deep enough now that he could turn over onto his back and just float looking up at the clear blue sky, his silvery hair spreading out around him.
Zeiogfried chuckled in what he thought was a fetching manner.
"Of course not, not that I got to see him dive of course." He muttered.
He would much rather stay with Pegasus, but seeing as Kaiba was doing lengths, he had to do something to show himself off, to show Pegasus what he was missing out on with that dragon obsessed plebeian. Not an ounce of breeding in him, it was horrific that his company was losing out to the younger man's company.
He got out of the pool to dive, making sure every movement with lithe and sinuous, Kaiba pausing near Pegasus.
"You do know he's showing off for your benefit don't you?" He asked him, pretty certain Pegasus wasn't.
"Actually, I'd thought he was showing off for you."
Pegasus righted himself and stood on the bottom so he could watch along with Kaiba.
"The way you two are always at each other, you're either entirely too competitive, or you're circling each other to see who will make the first overture towards...well, you know. A more horizontal relationship, as they say."
Pegasus could only smirk at kaiba. He knew the other man didn't think like that at all. But he was pretty sure Ziegfried did and he was certainly here to show off 'everything' he had to offer.
"He's a liar, a cheat, a saboteur, and he wants to see my company in ruins. Even if I could stomach that much pink and frou-frou, he'd be the last person I would ever let in my bed. I'd have a knife in my back in seconds. I dread to think what he would do with Mokuba after he's danced on my grave." He muttered sourly.
He was pretty sure that Pegasus was missing the point by miles, and genuinely seemed clueless. In any case, he was not turning his back on the man. Hence his stunt last night. He had thought there was something desperately untoward about things, probably because he was not done being mad about being humiliated at his own tournament.
he wondered if Pegasus realised just how deadly enemies they really were. Pegasus he could entertain being vulnerable with, he'd never, ever fuck him over behind his back. If the betrayal came, he'd know about it and it would be to his face. And deep down, he knew it would never come to that. Bottom line, he could trust Pegasus, on a personal and business level. Zeigfried was a poison asp. You did not bring that viper to your bosom.
Zeigfried was diving in prettily, Kaiba curling a lip at his display. He gave up. One day Pegasus would figure it out.
"Sorry for trying to be a matchmaker then. I just thought that the two of you had so much in common, you know, you both own technology based corporations, you're both world class duelists, your's around the same age, you both have younger brothers, he likes lolitas and you look awefully cute in a dress...."
Pegasus had to smirk and was ready to duck after that last comment. He completely wasn't seeing that Ziegfried kept trying to show off to him. Ziegfried had always been that way, always one for the spotlight no matter where he was. And standing here in a baggy wet t-shirt with twice his share of bruises, he didn't feel like considering anyone in any other way than friendship at the moment.
"... the desire to kill each other. And you did make your feelings on the matter of the dress really rather clear." He said quietly while Zeigfried couldn't hear.
On that note the German decided to join them.
"You know Seto dear," he knew full well the Japanese man loathed him being so familiar with him, so spoke his first name with relish, "I am rather surprised to see you here. I had thought you were not at the party, I didn't see you anywhere." he said airily, trying to get a better understanding of how things had happened.
"You were not looking hard enough." Kaiba replied honestly.
"Well I am honoured I am sure, I never thought you would deign to attend such an occasion. I would have loved to have seen your outfit."
"Kaiba was in blue and white, his usual colours. We watched the fashion show together. I swear the man has no imagination when it comes to wardrobe, he wouldn't know a top designer if they walked up and stamped their label on his forehead. And he must own a trench coat for every day of the week!"
Pegasus didn't actually say Kaiba had been wearing a suit but that did describe his usual formal attire.
He turned to Zigfried once more with his best attempt at looking apologetic.
"I have to say again how sorry I am that I couldn't wear the dress you sent over for me. It was so kind of you to think of me and I know you must have had it custom made, but I simply couldn't do it justice. Besides, it was your special day, I'd feel worse for stealing attention away from you with such a gorgeous outfit as that."
Pegasus felt wonderfully lucky that he had dodged the bullet of wearing that dress. Hopefully Ziegfried would take it with him when he left so he'd never have to think about it again.
As Pegasus took it upon himself to describe what he had been wearing, he was incredibly grateful that he neglected to mention that it was a dress he had been wearing. He made it sound like he was in his usual formal wear.
"I know top designers, but they want to dress me in ridiculous outfits. That's why I avoid them." He muttered. "And there is nothing wrong with my trench coats.
Zeigfried curled his lip a little and privately thought that a designer might actually manage to make something out of Kaia if they could pin him down long enough. But he was ignoring Kaiba as Pegasus spoke about the dress he'd had made for him.
"Nonsense." he said with a smile. "It would have looked wonderful on you, of course you could carry it off. But I appreciate the gesture. I can understand it would have been bad taste as host to have the guests looking your way instead of mine." he chuckled.
Though he had been disappointed. He had hoped to get a few drinks down Pegasus, and get to enjoy him in all the ruffles and bows. Certainly the idea of Pegasus in that dress did it for him in a big way.
"I'm sure if you gave it a try a change would do you a lot of good. Honestly even a change of colour would do you good. You can't keep wearing the same old thing, people will start to think you haven't anything better."
Pegasus turned back to kaiba always up for nagging him about something. Which considering that he himself wore the same suit ninety percent of the time was more than hypocritical.
He didn't see the way Ziegfried was eyeing him with visions of pink bows in his head. He was sure he'd put the matter of the dress to rest finally.
"Pot meet kettle." he muttered to himself. "I wear different colours other than blue and white." He huffed out loud. "Purple and black I wear regularly." he pointed out.
But he knew that this was just the status quo. If Pegasus wasn't nagging about something then things were really bad. This was just normality. Zeigfried chuckled.
"Perhaps if you are not going to wear the dress, we could persuade Seto dear to try it on. If nothing else, it would be entertaining to see you in pink. And I am sure you have the legs for s skirt."
Kaiba glared at him, Zeigfried coming very close to the bone for his liking.
Said Pegasus with a pout, not even thinking he was putting himself back into dangerous lacy territory.
He was trying to keep Seto out of a dress or anything resembling such because he didn't want to revisit the awkwardness of last night. He just knew something would be said if their rivalry got going in that direction.
"Besides, I think he'd look much better in yellow... Maybe, a new tie?"
Pegasus diplomacy was faltering as he did finally catch that gleam in Ziegfrieds eye. When they got out of this pool they'd have to change into something and Pegasus had a sinking feeling about what both his guests were going to demand.
Oddly enough, both Kaiba and Pegasus were on one mind about Kaiba getting into that dress. He wanted to revisit that awkwardness about as much as Pegasus did. He didn't even want to think about if there was an attraction between them. Right now the very idea made his head hurt.
He was still trying to get his head round the fact that the idea that another man found him attractive and had come on to him was actually just fine. He had assumed he was straight by default because he liked girls. Now he had a whole new set of things to consider.
Pegasus was barrelling on anyway and Zeigfried grinned.
"Well it would look better on you for certain." He said, "much more your colour."
"Oh just leave the damned dress already, no man has any business being in one."
He was certain of that after last night that was for sure. Zeigfried ignored him.
"You know, a new hair cut and some blonde highlights could do wonders for him. What do you think?" He asked Pegasus. "Especially with his eyes."
"I think Kaiba could stand for a few improvements, but definitely not highlights. I could never expect to see him as a blond. Too much of a change for such an old stick in the mud after all."
Pegasus said with some honesty. He hadn't expected that wig at all, or how well it actually suited him. It made him shiver and it wasn't the water temperature.
"Besides, there's nothing wrong with his hair. I mean a style like that, I just don't think it CAN be fixed. I'd be happy if he just brightened up his clothing a little, it might improve moral."
"That is unspeakably awful!" He said honestly, hand to his breast. "Hpw on earth did you survive? And who would do such a thing, to target you? And during my own party, this is horrible."
