good morning/good afternoon? toon_master1 July 2 2011, 18:44:31 UTC
It was a beautiful sunny summers day much like the one before it, however this one came with the noise of a clean up crew and the slow exidous of party guests that were still waking up ( ... )

Kaiba had woken, stiff and sore from the various trials of the previous evening, though far more clear headed. It was nice to wake to see a friendly face in Isono when he was in such a strange place, and had the feeling of being in the lion's den ( ... )

"My goodness, look what the blue eyes dragged in."

Pegasus perked up some as Kaiba appeared, he peered at him with a smirk over the top of his comic book, trying not to look as eager as he was for some company that wasn't here to nag at him about healthy eating.

"You don't have to stand there, do sit down and help yourself to some brunch. There's no reason we can't be civilized despite the bruises."

Pegasus teased him somewhat since Kaiba was limping while he was lounging. He pointed to the round wrought iron table next to him with two chairs. it was laid out with a good deal of food from waffles to fruit salad and yogurt, to some very fancy looking gourmet omlette. There was a basket of danish and croissants. And of course Pegasus sugary box of breakfast cereal that he hadn't yet touched.

He didn't look like he was going to get up any time soon to try any of it himself. He simply turned another page of his comic and waited to see what Kaiba would do.

Kaiba rolled his eyes but figured he deserved that opening comment. He sighed inwardly at the teasing, offering a strained smile.

"Yes, civilised. If only people had been civilised last night." He muttered.

Terrible bad manners attempting to kill someone and all that. He did limp over, and was glad to sit down now that he had the invitation. The food did look tempting, but he didn't like things hanging over him so looked to Pegasus.

"I figure I owe you an... well a couple of explanations." And apologies too.

"As I understand it a Mr. Haikido wanted to get his hands on the codes to some old weapons lockers over at Kaiba corp. I don't blame you for the bad choices of your staff."

Pegasus told him simply and turned another page in his book.

"My own staff however I can very well blame for allowing them onto this island in the first place."

Pegasus tone was clipped now and Croquet had all but frozen in place looking straight ahead. He knew he wasn't forgiven for that. As much as he hated Kaiba, he had been, was, a guest.

Pegasus wasn't going to mention that kaiba had come here wearing a dress and tried to get away with not telling him who he was. He actually wasn't sure if it were meant as a disguise, or if Kaiba really had such a secret fetish that he was too embarrassed to admit in public. It would be rather Cindarellaish of him to come to a ball where the dress code would make him fit in just perfectly without anyone knowing his true identity.

Kaiba snorted.

"Yes, but seeing as you already know who he was, then we both know that he was just a peon, a piece moved against me. And he's not the first. I doubt he will be the last either. I rather need to find out who is moving the pieces."

Well that was obvious.

"Though I should apologise. Had I not gotten the stupid notion into my head that this party for Zeigfried implied that there was something going on between your two businesses, then I would not have been here at all, and you would not have been dragged into it. I should have known better than to think badly of you, in a business sense." He clarified. "Spying in a disguise was a horrendous idea. the fact that I came up with it and insisted on it against opposition tells me that I really do need to take people's advice and take a break." He admitted grudgingly.

"There's no need for that. I certainly don't have any right to expect you to trust me in any regard. I don't ever want you to."

Pegasus finally got up and went to sit down at the table across from Kaiba. He moved as smooth and flawlessly as ever, not one to let a few bruised ribs get in the way of being elegant.

"Though that 'disguise' of yours..."

Pegasus couldn't help but crack a smile at kaibas expense and commenced with the teasing.

"I do wonder why you don't wear dresses more often. You've a fine enough figure for it."

Kaiab declined to comment about trust. Because they blatantly did trust each other on some level. There were certain things they knew the other would never do, and a level of understanding between them that was unspoken.

He gritted his teeth as the teasing began.

"I'll leave that to Zeigfried, he'd actually enjoy it. I was rather shocked he wasn't in a pink creation himself, with enough frills and lace to make him fall over. Not that what he was wearing was any less horrific."

Though he paused, thinking how to say things with their help so close by.

"Though I really should have chosen to be a redhead and worn green contacts. I know how dear she is to you." he said softly. "I never considered I would end up having a passing resemblance to her. And I should have, and would have avoided it if I had. "

"Yes, he does have a flare for the dramatic no matter what he does. Sometimes I call him up with an idea just to see if he approves and if he does i know it's gone just a little bit too far."

Pegasus smiled somewhat fondly over kaibas dislike for the German. pegasus himself could only stand him in small amounts.

"Oh, well, yes..."

Pegasus began when Kaiba brought up that bit of funny business they'd engaged on in the boat.

"Even with contacts, you've always had her eyes. I mean, there's just this way about you... not that you look like a girl or, or anything..."

Pegasus decided that now was a good time to shut his mouth and he filled it with a bite of strawberry danish and looked away. He wasn't sure exactly what he was trying to say. Kaiba didn't look like her, not at all. But his personality, when he wasn't glaring death, was quite similar. Strong, opinionated, independant, intelligent, but undeniably kind beneath it all. The type Pegasus was attracted to if he had a type other than just 'Cecelia".

Kaiba chuckled at that.

"Yes, he'd be a good yardstick for that I am certain."

But they were talking about things in veiled terms because they were not alone, and actually, for once in his life, Kaiba wished they were. Then he could be frank abut things. As it was, that little moment between them, would remain between them, that was his intention at least.

He smiled, amused as Pegasus back-pedalled a little.

"I get it." he reassured him. "Though I was kidnapped half way through the party for looking too plain, which probably meant manly, and was forcefully made over. It was horrific."

"You should have seen the dress Ziggy-boi picked out for me. Red and white cherries all over it with pink bows. It was his birthday, but honestly, I had to send it back. I think I liked your blue number much better even with all those daisies."

Pegasus admitted to almost being persuaded by Ziegfrieds dress code as well. He was actually eating some food now which was a bonus, but Croquet hadn't liked the slight blush he caught behind Pegasus hair when he had admitted Kaibas passing similarity to Cecilia. He was quietly determined to make sure they didn't get any time alone.

"Maybe next time you can help me find a dress that suits me, now that you have experience in the matter?"

Pegasus was joking, though he routinely went to the crazy side of things, especially where Kiaba was involved. he did somehow owe him now.

Kaiba made a face as Pegasus related the horror that he had been asked to wear. He shuddered, the man was shameless. He snorted.

"You don't really believe that I came up with the daisies all by myself now do you? I still haven't worked out where the hell they were hiding all that stuff. It was... terrifying."

As Pegasus joked he sighed and just accepted it.

"I think, since I obviously had no clue, that I would be better pointing you in the direction of Giselle and her friends for that sort of thing." he said dryly.

"Thank-you, but I think it will be quite a while before I want to see another lolita after last night."

Pegasus reached for a glass of orange juice and paused half way there, a flash of pink catching the corner of his eye on it's inevitable path across the lawn towards them.

"Speak of the devil..."

He all but grumbled. Honestly, it was still too early for him to be facing so much bright clothes and false cheer. He mustered up his own smile and turned just in time to greet the other man.

"Ah, Ziggy-boi! Good day! I see you survived your birthday party to grow another year older. How were your rooms, everything to your liking?"

He tried his best to play the good host despite really not being in he mood.

In response to Ziegfrieds chatter Pegasus simply removed his sunglasses and leaned forward to pour Kaiba a cup of coffee. Despite other injuries being covered the bruise on his face from earlier in the week was rather plain to see.

Since Pegasus question had been ignored he also ignored Ziegfrieds, choosing instead to motion Croquet to bring up another chair.

"Do sit down Ziegfried and join us. I'd like you to tell me exactly what you've heard and who you've heard it from."

The look Pegasus leveled at the man then was definitely a cool one. He wasn't so much asking as he was ordering.

"Thank you." Kaiba said graciously, before returned to regard Zeigfried like an animal he was considering putting down because he hated it. Which was pretty close to the truth ( ... )
