Concert Review #5: Neuraxis @ The Underground (2/10/06)

Feb 11, 2006 02:55

When a band as kickass as Neuraxis comes to Toledo on a weekday, it's a no-brainer to take the night off of work to witness such occasion!

I took my time getting downtown only because I stayed home with my little bro until my 'rents were back from a late dinner. I walk in and immediately I see Alex, who works for Taking On Explosives. Too bad he wasn't working the door... I coulda saved $8! LOL

I missed the first two local bands... oh well.

Genocya: Yes! I was on time for these guys! I've been a fan of these guys for a while, but I always miss them when they come to town. Excellent stuff! I urge everyone to check them out if you dig the whole death metal thing (http://www.myspace.com/genocya)

Strong Intention: I didn't know too much about these guys coming in... I did download one of their mp3's and played it on my show this past week. Pretty fucking good grind! They even have the drummer from Exhumed in their ranks!

Neuraxis: Holy hell! I was skeptical to hear how they sounded without Steven Henry, one of their founding members and guitarist who left the band a few weeks ago. It also looked like they had a new bass player too. Well anyways, even with all the lineup shuffling, they pulled it off! Even for as late as they played (1:30 AM), they still managed to blow what was left of the audience away (present company included)! Here's a rundown of their set:

Clarity
Link
A Curative Struggle
Neurasthenic
Unite
Shatter The Wisdom
The Apex
...Of Divinity

I purchased their newest album 'Trilateral Progression' as well as their older stuff 'Truth|Imagery|Passage' (3 CD's in one!) before I left. I chatted with a few of the band members and some random hot drunk chick kissed me on the cheek for no reason. Good times! The only thing that sucked was when I was heading up the stairs, I bashed my head on the ceiling and now I am currently sporting a pretty decent sized bump on my head. Damn my freakishly tallness! LOL!

Next show: In Flames @ Newport Music Hall (2/11/06)
