so sandy and i went out yesterday to go get a dog. had my eye on this doberman out in paulding county. when we get there, we find out he's an albino. these dogs have god-awful health issues. skin lesions, they go blind, they go deaf, you can't take them out in the sun without sunscreen and doggles (?!) and yet they convinced me to get him anyway. must've had something to do with the "Euthanization Date" posted on the front of his cage, letting me know that by wednesday this dog would no longer be alive.
(un)fortunately, paulding county requires a fence check for certain breeds...dobermans being one of them. well. i don't have a fence and won't for quite some time. so, with my tail in between my legs, we left and began to drive back to atlanta. i made a stop at a local verizon store to get a charger for mah phone, cos mine had broken, and there happened to be a petsmart there having an adoption day. we went in, just to see what they had, and it was mostly small dogs and puppies. then, in the bottom cage, was this german shepherd. he was chillin and in this little crate that he could barely fit into, so i asked them to take him out so i could see him. and then, i fell in love.
he's massive. when he came out of the cage i was just like...it's not a dog...it's a bear...but he is gorgeous and huge and well-mannered and so i said "i'll take him!" that's when they informed me that you have to be 21 to adopt from this group. DAMN. well. no worries. i called my mom who, like me, believes certain things happen for a reason and that perhaps there's a reason i stumbled upon this magnificent creature. so, she took the long drive out to dallas, ga and co-signed with me. papers are signed and i came home with this beautiful thing. he's wonderful and everyone loves him and he loves everyone....so long as you don't touch his bone or his food. then he'll take your arm off. and you probably shouldn't try to touch me, either. then he'll take your other arm off.
sandy is fairly certain he's not 100% shepherd, mainly because he's got a lanky frame and he moves like a wolf.
that's all.
