This weekend was rainy and blah, and everyone I know was having babies or getting married or going to watch my friends have babies and get married, so there wasn't really anyone around to come out and play. I ended up watching a lot of movies (Home For the Holidays: both satisfying and annoying all at the same time) and knitting, and baking (pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for tonight, since we're having the party to celebrate the kids taking the SAT, and Olivia requested the muffins, as well as chocolate cupcakes just because, and chicken dumpling soup for lunches this week, and banana nut muffins, because I was on a roll with the muffin thing) and reading, and cat grooming, and generally being a domestic kinda lady. Which is pretty awesome, sometimes.
I went out only briefly to hunt and gather, and was approached by a guy who attempted to pick me up by saying he had wanted to come up to me for a while (creepy) because I seem really special and "exude the light of the Buddha" (huh?) I am pretty sure atheists are rarely chosen to emit the light of deities under any circumstances, but especially when they are in sweatpants and glasses and have just run out because they needed unexpired milk. But who knows; I obviously don't pay attention to such rules.
I am getting back into baseball again, though without anyone around to explain things to me (I have been watching at home instead of bars, because of the economy) I pretty much have no idea what's going on. Anyone who shows up at my house and tells me what's what gets a free cupcake.
Last night with my tutoring kids tonight! I'll still be in touch with them by e-mail, and since they are almost certain to re-take the SAT in the fall, I'm sure they'll have questions and that I'll be there to strongarm them into focusing and learning in my upbeat quirky little way (Olivia is beside herself that I called her "dude" last week.) I am not going to miss going to EndsoftheEarth Bronx every week, but I sure am gonna miss those young'uns.
