I'd not have taken you for the romantic type.

I fail to see how that's supposed to help.

[He's not. That's why he's asking, silly.]

[A slightly amused smirk.] Just an observation.

I have a fiance at home... I usually send some sort of written invitation, if I'm the one initiating anything.

[Growing up in Victorian times means he has no problem with this.]

Tch. And you probably make it some ridiculously formal bullshit, too, huh.

[Gosh, Ciel, you're less romantic than he is.]

[Uh, that's why they're total bros don't you know?]

Written invitations are about the only way to communicate when one lives so far away. Surely there's no surprise there.

However, with access to these devices... I suppose there might be other ways...

[Hey, he is rather accommodating to his nearly suffocating fiance.]

Have you thought of flat out asking this person? That would be the most direct way.

Hn.

[He doesn't look pleased with this option.]

I'd rather not get my face punched in, thanks.

I also never took you for falling for that sort. [He's a little amused by this, okay?]

Regardless, if you must be somewhat indirect, there's always the surprise. Have this person show up to a fancy dinner for two, or something of the sort. Seems to work in the novels...

...

[Kanda takes a minute to try and work out how you can make a mountain of food fancy in any way, shape or form and comes up blank. But otherwise the surprise idea sounds good...]

Surprise... like a random gift sort of thing?

[Sighing.]

That sort of thing should work. Is there anything you know of that she wants? Something that might be special?

[Because obviously what is two guys dating? Is that a thing? He's 13.]

Something special... huh...

[That's fine, he doesn't need to know it's two doods.]

Not right off hand... I could probably find something.

It's an option, in the least. Especially if you don't want to ask them straight to their face.

... Oh, but do include the reason for such a gift... Don't let her mistake it for an act of kindness.
