[The voice on the other end sounds reluctant, grumpy, annoyed all at the same time. As if the person speaking really didn't like talking to people. Which is...ENTIRELY TRUE, OF COURSE.]

.....Oi. I'm getting tired of eating the same crap every day.

... You know, there are a lot of people less fortunate who go by with either eating different kinds of "crap" everyday or nothing at all. [/speaking from experience, though it's not obvious.]

I'd volunteer if I had any patience, but I don't, so I'm just wishing you luck.

Che, I know that.

[He's still grimacing over this shit they call "Fruit Loops", though, okay? He could've sworn he was looking for breakfast, not candy.]

Tch I just don't have to deal with it, so I don't want to.

Haha, I guess I can understand that a little. But I'd rather tolerate it than take anything from the locals. They're kind of creepy.

Hmph. That's why I'm learning to do it myself.

[He scowls.]

At least I know the food is safe.

[Hearing sharp, he catches the other's whisper, flatly stating:] How can you be so sure about that?

Tch. It's pretty damn obvious, right?

[He scowls and crosses his arms. He hates explaining anything, but he'll do it anyway.]

They drag us here, give us free food, clothing, housing-- everything. They want us to stick around and be complacent-- they're not going to make anyone suspicious with poisoned food.

Sure it's not, but giving just plain "normal" food as much as everyone wants is a poison in itself. I'm surprised the people who've been here for months haven't turned into spoiled brats yet.

Che, that's a completely different kind of poison.

[He's not disagreeing.]

Poison's poison. But I must admit, it might do you some good to get you a little less upset about life in general. [He's just judging from the constant grumpy tone.]

Haha, I'm not telling you to be sickeningly happy. Just to be a bit less grumpy. I think it would be easier on everyone, including yourself. [Aaand he cuts the feed. Always one to give advice then leave if he doesn't want to hear a protest.]
