EPILOGUE

Refilling the wine glasses, Craig thinks they might need it as Orli pulls out yet another pack of photos of their holiday to go through . Looking across the table he meets the eyes of the new guy in Owen's life, Martyn, and smiles sympathetically although the new visitor seems to be taking it all in his stride adequately enough.

"It really does look a beautiful place," Martyn offers, politely taking the photos from Owen as they are passed around.

"Yeah, you lucky bugger," interjects Owen.

"It is beautiful. The most gorgeous place I've ever seen." Orli's smile is as bright as a light bulb as he tells the other men about the places they visited and all the wonderful sights.

"Did you have sex on any of those beaches?" asks Owen, grinning at Craig and Orli.

"Owen!" Martyn berates.

"What?" Looking the picture of innocence, Owen stares at his boyfriend.

"Don't worry, we're used to him and his uncouth ways," Craig laughs, cuffing Owen lightly around the head as he gets up to find a new bottle of wine. "We wouldn't tell you even if we did," he adds with a smirk.

"I'll tell you," Orli whispers. "It's nice but sand gets everywhere, if you know what I mean."

Martyn's eyes get a little wider at Orli's open admission.

"Cool!" laughs Owen.

"No, we aren’t driving out to the beach and trying it, before you ask," Martyn murmurs dryly, taking a sip of his wine.

As he uncorks the wine at the counter, Craig can't help but laugh. It is nice having friends to come over and spend time.

Irrepressible as ever, Owen hadn't stopped coming around and although things were strained initially, he had eventually accepted that Orli was a better match for Craig than he. This had been helped by the arrival of Martyn no doubt and Craig is quietly confident that despite his initial appearances of being somewhat shy and reserved, Martyn is a good match for Owen.

"Oh! Did Owen tell you what our next project at school is going to be?" Orli asks excitedly when he remembers.

Martyn shakes his head. "As long as it's not another course in escargot," he says with a slight shiver.

"I made those for him the night before the test..." Owen shakes his head, too. "It wasn't pretty."

Orli laughs as he imagines Martyn trying to choke down the ill prepared snails. "No. We're done with that. We've moved on..." He grins and pauses for dramatic effect. "To wedding cakes! Can you believe it? We have to make a proper wedding cake for our next exam!"

"A wedding cake for whom?" Craig asks as he returns to the table with the fresh bottle of wine.

"For Martyn and Owen," Orli replies quickly, giving his friend a knowing look as he teases his boyfriend. "They want us to be bridesmaids, too. Isn't that cool?"

"As long as I don't have to wear pink, sure." After refilling the glasses, Craig takes his seat once more.

"Damn. You said he'd wear the pink frilly number we chose," Martyn murmurs to Owen.

"Maybe blue? To bring out the color of his eyes," suggests Orli, leaning over to give Craig a kiss.

"His eyes? What about the bride's eyes?" Owen asks with an indignant tilt of his chin and a flutter of eyelashes. "Uh... I mean the groom's eyes," he giggles with a shrug, before dissolving into laughter with the others.

Sitting back in his chair as the conversation moves on with Owen sharing another of his stories of culinary disaster, Craig smiles to himself. It had been a long road getting to the point where he finally feels settled and content with his life, so many changes and starting over. He can't be sure there won't be more down the line, but as he shares a secret smile with Orli over Owen's tale, he can be pretty sure he won’t be facing them alone.

Orli reaches for Craig's hand under the table, giving it a gentle tug and squeeze. Sometimes he finds that his happiness overwhelms him and all he can do is smile and thank what ever powers that be that Craig took that job at the lighthouse and came into his life. Orli likes to think that he might have helped Craig some too along the way as his boyfriend helped him. He certainly believes that they've truly been good for each other after the past few months shared in their new found contentment.
