Ketchup...
I have a new addiction. Organic Ketchup.
Little known fact about ketchup:
Ingredient #2: High Fructose Corn Syrup
If you're near 30 or older you'll remember ketchup before it was sweetened with HFCS. I remember my Mother's fondness for Brook's Bros. Ketchup. Then, sometime in the late 80's it disappeared from both local grocery stores.
When it reappeared in the 90's it had this strange taste to it. Kind of like the ketchup from school so I decided to stick with Heinz.
Well, looking back on the situation, I'm sure the strange flavor came from the replacement of sugar with HFCS... It really does perverse the flavor.
Anyway, I love ketchup. I will eat it on everything from eggs, to potatoes, to beans. After I warded off the HFCS in January I had to part with my beloved ketchup. I then discovered organic things do not contain HFCS so I went to Whole Foods and picked up their organic brand of ketchup. I feel like I'm now addicted to ketchup. The other day I was looking for an excuse to cook something just so I could put ketchup on it.
