Bark...
Bark, bark, bark...
"Shut up!"
Bark, bark, bark, bark...
{door bell}
"What the fuck?!"

It's 10:02am and I had just laid down about 2.5 hours before then.

So I got out of bed, threw on a shirt, and saw a man standing at my door.

"Were you asleep?" he asks me. I respond with, "Yes, I work nights."

He proceeds to tell me that he needs to do electrical work downstairs and that he'll have to turn off my power to do so. He then instructs me to unplug all of my electronics. I tell him ok and then he says, "I may need to bother you some more." At which point I just start shaking my head because all of this is starting to set in. I knew if I said anything else it would be rude so I just told him, "I'll go unplug everything." I felt like telling this man, "Look, Wouldn't like it if I woke you up several times throughout the night for various reasons? I would think not. I understand you have a job to do but don't expect me to be at your beckon and call.

Sure enough five minutes after I go and lay back down the fan and the a/c go off... For the next seven hours I toss and turn and wake and wake up to every traffic noise that managed to penetrate my bedroom.

There are two things that bother me about daytime people.

1. When you tell them you work nights they immediately think you work EVERY night.

2. They do not seem to comprehend that when someone works nights they will sleep during the daytime. It's as if they just expect you to react nicely when called on the phone after sleeping for 3 hours or when you're woken up for any reason and it's assumed that it's ok because it's daytime.

Well, just in case, I'm putting a note on my door tomorrow telling this man that I am sleeping and to leave me alone.
