This was sweet, and honest and truthful, especially the way Emily blurted out that she didnt want to be Jack's mother and Hotch's response to that. I love that they can just have honest conversations with each other about those kinds of things. So much has happened and they have to.

I really enjoyed this.

Thank you. I'm actually really grateful to citymusings for this prompt because the issues brought up by it are, well, ones that would really need to be addressed by Hotch and Prentiss at some point.

Thanks, I'm glad you did! :D

Yeah, in my Something More series, as Hotch and Prentiss get closer, this is something I think about. And of course I do have Jack calling Emily 'mom' now in my regular fanon. Its interesting to wonder how it comes about and how all three of them feel about it. I love the realness of it, writing it and reading it.

I figure these pieces based on the prompts (most of them any way) are in, uh, the "Suffer the Children" realm but after that actual story - which reminds me I totally need to find a name for actual universe since, well, the current name doesn't actually fit anything but the long tale, haha!

Anyway...This is really what I love exploring too...things developing and all three of them trying to figure out theirs and the other's places. Like you say, I love the realness of it! :D

Over 1000 fics later and I still struggle to come up with titles of stories and names of series so I can understand this. I have that "kinda canon" universe where Hotch is "protecting" Emily while working for her mother's detail. I've written like 4 or 5 stories and it still has no name. It bugs me but I really cant think of a thing.

Exploration is my favorite part of fic. These characters alone are so multi-faceted and complex but you put them together and *BOOM*, you really have something to work with.

Haha, yeah, it's not easy. I mean I really kinda like thinking up fun names (just like I enjoy hunting down the right quotes) but it can be tricky. "Protecting", huh? Maybe you should try a play on words with the idea of him "protecting" her? I don't know, haha!

Me too! :D Each of them are wonderful to explore alone and together! :D

What about "Partners"? It encompasses everything they are dealing with, personally and professionally. Or a play on the word partners?

For you or for me? (May be having a blonde moment, haha!) Either way though, that's an option, haha!

For you : D

I want mine to have something to do with one year, that was about how long they were together before Hotch went off to the Seattle field office and Emily went to Yale.

Oh, haha! Hmm...Maybe something like..."Allies in Their World"?? Or is that too long for a series/AU title?? (Never named one so I don't know, haha!)

Oh, okay. Um...and don't hate me...but have you thought of simply naming it "Year One"? Haha! Or maybe something like "The Annual" or "Annual Aims" (cause, I don't know, Hotch has two aims: protect and, haha "protect")???

The word annual has crossed my mind but it isnt right for me. This is a bit of a doomed and inappropriate love story, the title means everything.

Allies in their world is cool if you like it. Its not too long for a series, four words is just long enough.

Ah...ok...um. Maybe "Year and a Day"?? The day being the day they part?? ...Or you could just focus on time as opposed to year? Like "Alloted Love" which, ya know, means they only have a set about of time for their love? Or "Beyond Duration"? Like their love is beyond their endurance and, while doomed and inappropriate, the feelings last beyond their time together anyway??

Yeah, I mean, I guess it works...maybe I'll let it rattle in my brain for a bit before committing.

What about Alliances for your series? Or Alliance? I like that : )

Hmm, for mine I am still stuck. I wanna think about "Not Enough Time" or time being against them in some way. Its sooooooooooo hard. I had written 4 stories before I came up with Something More....it was from you guys' comments. And Fresh Perspectives came from something Stella said. Maybe I can go back to something Emily said in that kinda canon series. They do make references to Jane Austen's Emma, maybe I can look there.

Yeah but, haha, there's really only one "alliance" that I'm focusing on - Hotch/Prentiss - not like I'm dealing with other pairings really and just "Alliance" sounds funny to me, haha! Maybe "World Allies", cause I kinda like the whole thing Emily entering Hotch's (and Jack's) world...but that sounds kinda funny too. Ugh, titles!! ...Maybe I'll search song titles, that's where I get a lot of the titles for "Suffer the Children", haha!

How about "Against Time"? (Or you can snatch from the band Muse and use "Time Is Running Out", haha!) Haha, I remember Stella saying something about Fresh Perspectives! :D Hmm, maybe...it might also take awhile still, sometimes the titles just don't wanna come until you least expect it.

I dont write that kinda canon series much, which might be why its so hard to come up with something. But you're right, it'll come to me when the time is right.

What about Brave New World? IDK, I guess it'll come to you when the time is right as well.

But song titles and lyrics always end up in my stories somewhere.....maybe you will find something good there.

How canon is it though? I mean, like, how different is it from some of the other slightly canon based pieces you write? (I don't think I've read any these pieces yet so I'm not familiar with the differences from your other pieces.)

...That's not bad actually, haha! And based on a piece of classic literature which I like. Add an "s" and make it "Brave New Worlds" and I think that just might work!! YAY!!

Haha, mine too in someway...okay less IN the pieces and more as titles but, haha, yeah. I think I'm digging "Brave New Worlds" though, I think it fits. *virtually hugs you to bits!* :D
