Writing from Cusco Day 1

Sep 05, 2009 18:35

After four hours at Logan due to a wonderful expected delay from American Airlines, barely making my connecting flight in Miami to Lima, where I met up with Stephen, landing in Lima at 4:30 AM 3 more hours at Lima, a slightly less delayed flight from Lima to Cusco and 15 hours later we´ve arrive.  We had a very nice taxi drive us to Loki our hostel where we found JB.

Cusco itself is at 12K elvation (or so i´m told),  very hilly.  The guys are slightly suffering, I´m okay thus far. The paths are made out of old worn down cobble (which I love when not in heels) and the streets are filled with stray dogs (but not as bad as Israel).

The street hagglers will try to sell you anything and follow you around for a good deal if you pay even a second attention to them.  This one dude trying to sell sunglasses found steve 3 blocks later after we walked away!  We almost thought about getting them just for the effort but then the hunger was a top priority.

The city is completely composed of tourism (not that I complain since I´m part of it).  They even had the second annual Tourism parade today!  It was fun, pictures will be added later.

After much exploring of armes in downtownish area, we found a destination that was filled with locals (or at least non japanese or white tourists).  Amazing Filet mignon de alpaca (probably the older brother of the baby I held and took a picture with during the parade earlier in the day).  Pisco Sours are amazing (at least until i found out its raw eggs, but i´ll live.

Until next time!
