This definitely doesn't amount to half the TMI's I read here, but thought I would share anyways...
So I spray tanned for the first time on Saturday. Before I went into the booth, the girls behind the counter had me watch an instructional video on how the booth works, how to position yourself to get the most even tan possible, etc. At one point, the video says "after you push the green start button, you have 10 seconds to position yourself before the solution is released. The first shot of solution is quick and may be cold and somewhat startling..." I finish the short video, and venture back to booth 14 for my mystic tan.
I strip down, follow the steps to get ready for the spray tan, and climb in. I push the start button, wait the 10 seconds, and sure enough, the first spray is FREEZING and completely unexpected. It scared me, and I gasped- inhaling the spray solution through my mouth. For the next 15 seconds a constant mist of fake tanner was being sprayed on me, and I had no choice but to breathe it in through my nose (since I had already had it all on my mouth from being startled before). I tried to hold my breathe when I could, but it was impossible.
For the last 2 days I have had shimmery spit and mucous, as well as bronze boogers.
I hope this isn't a health hazard, I thought spray tan was supposed to be healthier than tanning beds :(
