Vic Damone Nearly Killed by the Mob

I happened across this little article while reading about Vic Damone's upcoming autiobiography (which I can not WAIT FOR!) :

Vic Damone, whose velvety voice is heard on "Mad Men," says a mobster once tried to throw him out a 14th-story window. The Post's Kyle Smith reports that in "Singing Was the Easy Part," out in June from St. Martin's, Damone writes that he broke his engagement to a mob princess when she called his mom a "bitch" for giving her cooking tips. That prompted her dad, an upstate Mafia boss, to summon him to a room at Manhattan's Edison Hotel, where he grabbed Damone and rushed him toward an open window. "He was shoving me out. My rear end was over the edge already. But I had my legs hooked over the sill and I grabbed his tie . . . I had a death grip on that tie," Damone says. His agent came to the rescue with a bear hug, then brokered a sit-down with mobsters including Luciano-family kingpin Frank Costello. The panel ruled a girl getting married needs to learn how to cook and to respect her new mother-in-law. Costello said: "He's gonna live. Don't touch him."

Wow. How much do I love Vic, and the Mob (that's weird, I know...)?

Love Always,
