Reason #21 why my kids are awesome (I've known them less time)

So I was in the yard with the kids yesterday after work. The weather was pleasant, so we were on the swingset and breaking rocks apart with other rocks. I got to teach Miguel about mica schist and the invention of tools, which was kind of cool. (But not awesome...wait for it!) So we're running around when I notice a small hole in the ground. I poke at it with a stick and it opens up - a tiny sinkhole about 3 feet deep and 6 inches across. Not wanting the kids to fall in, I warn them away and get the pick to fill it in. I do so as best as I can (tree roots everywhere prevent me from just collapsing it) and tell the kids not to play around there. Miguel goes inside for a bit and comes out with a sign that he drew. It is a big "X" with the word "NO" written next to it. He goes and gets a strip of bark, mounts the paper in a crack in the bark, and jams it into the ground I've just filled the hole with.

In my mind, a 4-year-old making a sign to warn people away from danger - that's awesome. I'll take some pics of the sign and post them.
