Finally on the way to clearing this vindictive head cold Phyllis gave me for no other reason than to exert her wifely privilege of Making My Life Miserable. On the upside though, telling everyone at work I'm sick has effectively quarantined me from having to interact with anyone for more than 30 seconds, which is how I like it. ;)
Right now I'm still in the thinking process on The Tomorrow Man, but I'm really excited with where this is going. I wish I would have kept better records on the evolution of this, if only to see the creative process slowly shape it into the story it's become. I love this part of storytelling, certainly a lot more than actually writing it lol. It's the worldbuilding, you see, of inserting yourself bodily into strange new worlds and dimensions, taking mental note of every detail you spy, opening your senses to unknown and recording the experiences to put down on paper for others to enjoy, I NEVER get tired of that. I'm going to start outlining The Tomorrow Man soon....maybe writing some kind of streaming thought bible to the plot, something I can refer to when I'm ready to turn it into something. Thinking this might need to be written as a comic script though, but we shall see.
Bought Iron Man on blu ray yesterday. Fan. Fucking. TASTIC. And how cool was it to see Warren Ellis talk about his Extremis story in the special features? Kinda makes me want to go out and buy Fraction's run on the new series, as Favreau cited it as being an influence on the sequel.
I'm sick, but otherwise life is good. I have enough work on my plate to see me through the rest of the quarter and enough days off requested between now and Christmas to give me something to look forward to. I've decided to read all of my unread books and graphic novels before going back out to buy anymore. Sure, I'll still buy the occasional monthly comic (Ellis's No Heroes #1 came out today, curious to see how it turned out) but otherwise that's it. And so far it's been a very easy and satisfying decision. The extra time spent not driving around looking for things to buy has allowed me to go on more walks or meet Phyllis for lunch, and it wasn't long before I forgot about my lunchtime shopping excursions all together.
I kind of want to see that movie Blindness this weekend. Looks like an interesting, post apoc premise, and I like Mark Ruffalo. Other than that, eh, I'm pretty much holding out for the new James Bond.
More later, I've suddenly got an urge to work on The Tomorrow Man some more.
