There've been lots of projects surfacing from the HMC lately; we've proven to be quite a creative bunch in the past few months. It seems like everyone's been making music, taking photos, writing stories and poetry... and more often than not, all of those things at once. Plus, i've heard a lot of people talking about making websites for all those projects. With that in mind, here's one more project from the hmc (and this is david's idea): introducing
the hmc online.
It's a website that can only work with your participation, so pay attention.
The idea is that the hmc will serve as a webspace for all of us artsy bastards where we can post anything we like for the rest of us to see. Music you've made, pictures you've taken, anything you've written or drawn; it'll all go here to share with the rest of us, and whoever else you want to direct to it. In theory, we can even use the site to interact with those projects by posting them and having someone else work on them with you as well.
The site could also have a member's section where a little profile would be, links to everything that person has put up (either at the hmc or off server), and even a little comment wall or something, similar to ian's
talk.php. Sort of MySpace-esque, but with a purpose. A real forum could be around, as well.
The only thing it would take is literally a couple bucks a year for the server and domain name (which i assume would be hmc.org or something, but it could be anything). The rest is all up to how much you feel like doing. It seems like it'd be a lot of fun to me, and a really good resource as well. I'm pretty sure David and I alone would have plenty of content to fill it up with, although i think everyone has interesting stuff if they want to put forth the effort to actually put it up.
The last thing: the prototype-site i linked to is only an idea. The logo, design, and even the entire layout itself could be different. That's just a real, real rough idea as to the way it'd be set up.
So, if you're at all interested in this comment with ideas or just say you'd like to see it happen. As long as you know what the hmc is, you've got a spot there.
Thank you for your cooperation. More live journal bickering to follow.
