A bumper sticker that reads 'Support Our Troops' does not make you a supporter of our troops. It's a stereotype and a cliché, but conservatives view liberals in general as unpatriotic because we refuse to adorn our vehicles with forced, bandwagon-jumping, pro-america slogans. Instead of blindly following our leader we question his ability to govern our nation, and somehow this concern for our country comes across as treason. You think you're an upstanding citizen because you put an american flag on the back of your hummer? Bullshit. Because while you pretend to support Uncle Sam, suburban moms and dads, you're trying to make sure he doesn't get to your highschool student. Because while you're driving around in a vehicle that was originally intended for use in combat situations (not suburbia, as you've made the mistake of believing), the people who are actually in said combat (the troops your stickers and yellow ribbons refer to) are forced to make their own armour out of scrap metal. You think patriotism is defined by car ornaments? You think i'm less patriotic because of my mistrust in our president? Well, i'm the one who supported a candidate who wanted to protect the troops your president endangered, and continues to endanger, everyday.
I just saw an interview with George W. Bush, president of our glorious united states of america. He was asked if he sees his misjudgment on the weapons of mass destruction as a potential threat to his, and the entire country's, credibility with the rest of the world. He said he doesn't believe this war has caused any loss of credibility for america, finally putting to rest any rumours that he has some grasp on reality.
