Time for an update

Hello, all,

I haven't posted a substantive post for quite some time (not that any of my ramblings might be considered substantive), so I thought I'd take advantage of a rainy early Saturday evening to catch all three of my readers up on the goings-on.

Ever since that huge comprehensive exam in August, which I found out I passed by the skin of my teeth?, I have barely cracked a book. My next steps in my program are to take the final three comprehensive exams, which means I have to propose a list of books to be tested on and a paper to be written.

One of my colleagues has already proposed his exams, and another will do so soon. I'm a slug.

BUT, I told myself while I wouldn't do a whole lot of dilly-dallying, I also wouldn't pressure myself to finish as quickly as my colleagues who aren't working full-time jobs.

So, I met with another colleague, and she and I decided to help each other be accountable by starting to prepare our lists and the notes/outlines of the books . . . so, I'm about 150 books or so away from being fully prepared.

That seems like a big hill to climb.

Anyway, the BF and I are doing well. He's truly a good egg, and I'm liking him quite a bit. We've had some interesting milestone moments, and we certainly aren't without our fair share of histrionics, but "L" bombs have been dropped, and commitments have been made. I'm happy with this man, and he's doing a pretty good job of pretending to be happy with me. The London trip was very good for us, I think; I have this notion that if you snag a cute man with whom you can travel successfully, that's a good sign. And R was great and fun/low maintenance to travel with. So, there ya go.

Okay, that appears to be all that's going on that's worth sharing . . . that's not a lot, actually. I clearly need to start knitting.

chill
