I guess it's been awhile since I've updated this fucker, so I'll give you a quick run down:
  • I quit Margret House. Again. Working full-time at home.
  • I'm loving my new HDTV
  • The real estate market in Calgary is crazy. My condo went up $100,000 in 6 months. It'll probably be worth $25 in October.
  • I joined a Dodgeball league.
  • I've ( Read more... )

COol.

Hey man... Sounds like some cool action going down for T money in Cowtown. Congrats on the condo. CRAP. I should have got in on the housing market action there when I had the chance. What dodgeball league did you join? I didn't know that they actually existed.

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about the condo. It doesn't do me much good though. I can't sell or I'll just have to start renting again. My only option is to sell and buy a mansion back in Brooks :)

The Calgary Sports and Social Club has 3 dodgeball leagues. One Intermediate and 2 "Really Rec". We're something like second last in Really Rec B so we kinda suck. It's shit loads of fun though.

why can't you sell? You SHOULD sell - that's 100,000$, and it's non-taxable because you've lived in the residence for 6+ months. That's a free & clear 100,000 grand in your pocket. Do it, then rent until the housing prices in calgary come back to earth (which from what I hear isn't too far off) and then buy another, nicer one with a smaller mortgage.

Or hold off for another 6 months and take my advice.

My advice, much like good salt, is kosher.

Yeah, but the only problem is I'm not entirely sure the market will drop that much. The Alberta is based on oil prices and the price is not going down any time soon.

The market in Calgary will drop when the rest of Canada's does, but we'll always have a bubble around us. Oil means jobs, so people will always be moving to Calgary.

That said, $100,000 IS ten years of rent.

Or sell, take the 100k, and come live out here. It's expensive, but you can save money by using the apple store's internet...

I sincerely hope you mock DarNat a lot for renting still...
