I'm trying to rewrite my "Farmer Bingo" joke. I need to lead the audience into my train of thought. But I need the name of the grammar phrase that fits here **********. **EDIT** my wife said it's a subordinate clause.
I've had this song stuck in my head all day. "There was a farmer, who had a dog, and Bingo was his name-o." And then it hit me, "who had a dog" is a subordinate clause. You can take that shit out and the sentence will still mean the same thing.
There was a farmer, and Bingo was his name-o.
And I always thought it was the dog's name. You can't imagine how silly I feel.
