my name is Tony... and i'm a nostalgic idiot.

today has been a humbling experience all around so far.... and it is only lunch time.

first i got to go to the video store and return a dvd.... only the dvd. i returned the box for it on sunday... empty! but it did make me feel better when he took the dvd to a pile of other empty boxes other people had "returned"

then after leaving the grocery store and coming home to put the food away, i got to go back to the store and look through a shopping cart to find what i had left in it. since they had taken the carts in, i had to go to the service desk and ask. SCORE! one of the guys had given them my picture frame.

on the way back from the store (the second time) i heard the song Say what you will by Fastway. it reminded me of when i first moved to this area in 11th grade. the first day we were supposed to go to our new school, my brother and i ended up walking. a classmate we had never seen before pulled over and asked us if we needed a ride. on the way he was listening to that song. he asked us something about us walking all that way to school and i looked at him and said "where is it anyway?" he and i wound up ditching school and getting high that day. maybe that is why i am a burnt out idiot today.

the next day he had a girl he knew with really nice handwriting make up notes from "our moms" for us missing school the previous day.

and that started me thinking...

with my sloppy ass handwriting, my 9 year old son (9 today that is... happy birthday to the boy) could make a note and say it was from me and his teachers would probably not know the difference.

hmmmm, maybe i should work on that before he is old enough to figure it out.

everyone have a good friday and i hope it is going more smoothly than mine.
